Speed has become a pretty mediocre type for characters to have. They tend to not bring all that much to the table in the end. There are almost no speed characters still in the higher tiers. High speed scaling doesn't impress much when some destruction character can full break all enemies in 2 turns or some recovery character heals all your locks.

Some general tips: Last Words are usually a huge increase in power and often make or break a character. Almost all characters are not really worth it without their LW. Most of the final passive skills that you can unlock are not really worth it and waste of resources early on. Characters gain friendship if you use them in battle without exhausting them. Higher friendship means higher stats until they reach pink heart which is the max. Upgrading the star levels of characters with blue tokens is a increase to almost everything a character has, including stats, spell effects and even the cost for deployment in battle. High cost might make some characters less suitable for grinding but other grinding set-ups might even require certain characters maxed out. Best to always check the google docs or ask in the thread for that. Never randomly increase star levels, you either go all in or stay at 1 star. Feel free to use all the regular wood items to boost all stats to the max, the game essentially hands you an infiinite amount of them and all set-ups assume you used the regular wood. The special arena reward wood can be used on your favourites or to enable very specific grind with some characters. I feel like most people just boost the already good characters even further with it though. No point in boosting someone like Chen with it. If you are F2P or just don't want to whale much, make sure to check which of the higher rarity characters you upgrade before you waste your dolls. It takes a while to get more and maybe some other character will have to miss out on being powered up for a while.

Eosd flan and remilia have very complementary kits. Flan gets remi to 3 power and provides burn anomalies, while remi jacks up the party's agility, yin attack, and crit attack.

Put friends in school to regain stamina. Works even without any food active. The game will tell you once you reach the point at which more battles will drain friendship. It happens once the character has 2 really big sweat drops.

How do you guys level up your rebirthed units? With the higher SP cost is it worth grinding them?

While starting out try to focus on getting LWs, events are a good place to grind since they're easy & reward you with currency to grab a little bit of everything.
Make sure to reach rank 4 with every character you're planning on using, all 3 skills can play a big part.
Skills are the main timesink, but you'll want to make sure you always have someone training. No need to upgrade the dojo with pink cubes though, 2 slots is actually enough.
Skill wise prioritise getting instant SP generation to at least hit the +1 or +2 thresholds, look up if your character can reach them.
After that just max the rest out or focus on key skills that you see being handy like lock removal or party buffs etc.
After LWs, & common wood stats, story cards will have the most impact, but that's an entirely different subject, just know that there's no reason not to put something on. Just match the attack (yang/yin) of the character and crank that stat as high as you can. That's a good nobrain option.

Speedfrens will usually have sources of agility up and they stats are weighed more towards agility and they'll usually have agility scaling on their bullets.
It's just that their numbers are underwhelming.
You can see on base Sakuya how much they overestimated speed scaling, they gave her 20% scaling on her LW. Fast forward a few months and Minamitsu gets 120% scaling as well as the ability to give herself lv10 Agi up, IN Reisen gets 140% scaling and lv8 agi up all by herself alongside god breaks etc.
For comparison, hard scaling is pretty common and it usually is seen in the 100-200% range. And defence is actually useful buff outside of buffing the hard scaling bullets, meanwhile agility only affects turn order assuming you don't get hit with delay/stun/paralyze/upset stomach

I bet Yuuka will be EFES and Kasen will be SFES.

I don’t know shit about the meta and how to git gud at this game but I have SFES Remi and her LW is an absolute nuke. The downside are her spells, they’re not accurate at all and don’t do much damage, I’m not sure if her skills are any good but she does have some nice breaks on her default shots. They announced forever ago that they are going to change things around so that you can actually farm them but so far they only increased their backlog by adding new cards. MV FLan is up next months who will also have a card for herself again. I would imagine that Yuuka is EFES and Kasen is SFES and if that is true, then only Yuuka will get a new stage with a card to farm while Kasen just uses some existing card. They could also change around their plans completely and just release Slut Sanae instead since people already found her stats in the game.

Yuuka is SFES and Kasen is just regular FES and based on what they posted, the VS battles are now changed so that they rotate every week. I guess that means they will finally allow people to farm all the cards, though it might take weeks to do so depending on when each card will get a turn.

So how does the new extra stage work? Are you still supposed to infinitely farm it for copies? Or do you clear level 120 once and get 1 MLB copy?

The buffs are 'decent', but, sadly they barely reach the feet of the recent Ultra Festival Units.
First, stats like Self-Evasion and Critical Accuracy are high susceptible to RNG, so unless they grant you to dodge 90% of the bullets and secure you a critical hit, they are very useless.
This can be fixed with two ways: Or you make the character have a +8 to 10 evasion/crit accuracy level buffs or you give them barrier restoration and killer bullets. The modern units have the last one.
And second, Spirit Power Restoration, and Accuracy. Those are really fundamental.
Like, every Ultra-Epic-Relic unit have at least 1SP up in their abilities. So, this should be a must-be in each new character.
Also, they always have at least 2 Accuracy up or Enemy Evasion down levels abilities.
And, if they do not have this (which is rare), they have great party buffs or big enemy debuffs.
It's make me kinda sad see this characters that were protagonists in the main story, being this weak today.
