/jp/, I want to try one of these magical Touhou games you're all on about.

Which one do I start with and where the Hell do I get it?

Imperishable Night.
Right here, good sir.

Don't listen to this Anonymous.

Never start with Imperishable Night. What are you, stupid?
If you can't start with EoSD, start with PCB or MoF.

>> No.4254662

http://www.wuala.com/solracklol/Touhou/Juegos/Oficiales/Juegos Touhou Windows/

has all windows games besides 12

Some of them need a dll file to be copied and pasted in them for it to work.

you're a faggot

Everyone should have started with IN. It's top-rated.
and don't start drawing up a graph to prove me wrong either. I know you were.

>> No.4254682

>>4254659
I hate to agree but go PCB, MoF, EoSD, UFO, IN, SA

>> No.4254695

I started with IN
It didn't cause me IRREPARABLE DAMAGE. Its also the easiest touhou to 1cc, so its good for a beginner.

>>4254682
IN Elite disparaging IN. What.

>> No.4254702

Starting with IN screws you later due to its lax deathbomb timing. EoSD or MS are very unforgiving in this area.

Starting with IN because it's the easiest is EXACTLY why it's a bad idea. You'll NEVER recover from the deathbomb leniency IN gives you that no other game does. Ever.

>> No.4254721

>>4254698
Honestly, IN should be savored and when people start with the best they do not gain perspective and turn into hardliners.

Fascinating.

You should start by watching the touhou animu OP. ZUN would love you for it.

>> No.4254758

>>4254740
"The"? I'm sorry, but there are multiple Touhou Project "animu"s. You're going to need to be more specific.

Is it that lenient with deathbomb times or is it just the Border team? Although, that wasn't what made IN easy for me at all. It just seemed more gentle with the difficulty curve, relatively speaking.

>> No.4254788

>>4254758
I was thinking of the Maikaze one, because ZUN especially got butthurt over it. What other ones are there besides that one where the IN cast is invaded by a spaceship and somehow have a connection with them, forgot what its called or who made it (some circle that starts with SOUND- something).

>> No.4254785

OP here:
I started with PCB because it was a small download. It's actually pretty fun, y'know. Makes Geometry Wars look like Deer Hunter, but it's fun.

>> No.4254797

People saying not to start with IN because of the deathbomb timer are stupid. In about a half hour of playing another game you get used to the different deathbomb timers. If you truly cannot get over the IN deathbomb, I would say just don't play any Touhou game at all, considering the series babysits you with deathbomb and 3 times as many lives as most shooting games.

>>4254788
It's SOUND HOLIC.

Start with Fuumaroku
There's a torrent out there with all the PC98 games and the emulator.

>>4254797

Maybe if you're used to playing, but if you're just starting off, it will not work that way. It will take much longer to "adjust".

>> No.4254807

Is there some kind of strategy to this? I'm just holding x and grabbing pickups, then holding shift+x+occasionally z when the boss pops up. Oh, and desperately (failing at) avoiding getting shot.

Something I should know?

>> No.4254810

>>4254807

Uh, swap x and z there.

>> No.4254822

>>4254798
yeah I was wanting to say SOUND HOLIC, but wasn't sure, honestly its been years and don't care much for toohoo these days.

The deathbomb leniency is not the only thing that makes IN so easy, dumbass.

>> No.4254846

>>4254833

No, but that is the reason to not play it first.

>> No.4254854

>>4254807

Do all those things. Just do them better. You'll level up soon enough. It will be a glorious feeling.

>> No.4254865

>>4254797
People shouldn't start with IN because IN has too many features. Someone who's new isn't going to want to work out time points and level choices and eight characters and familiars and last spells. They should just play one of the simpler ones and see if they like it. EoSD or MoF or something. Enough to get a feel for the core gameplay without having to look up how things work every two minutes.

>> No.4254866

>>4254846
That, and the spell practice, the simple bullet patterns, the fact that bullets disappear when you kill enemies in the first place, the 500 extra bombs...

actually, I'd say they're all good reasons.

>> No.4254871

>>4254833
>The deathbomb leniency is not the only thing that makes IN so easy, dumbass.
Oh boy it's almost like you didn't read the post at all.
>People saying not to start with IN because of the deathbomb timer
>people saying ... because of the deathbomb timer

Anyway it really doesn't matter what you start with or what order you play them in, or even what difficulty you start at, really, because you will improve with practice regardless.

>> No.4254912

What are the Windows Touhou games in chronological order? Even though some games are easier than others, I would like to see how the series progresses both gameplay and "story" wise.

EoSD - Good, though somewhat difficult, especially if you're bad at fast bullets
PCB - Also good; varying bomb quantities are pretty silly though, and Youmu & Yuyuko are some of the harder last stage bosses
IN - Easiest, both for game difficulty and the practice modes available. Eirin and Kaguya are no pushovers, so don't expect to 1cc it right away though (of course, easier game means you can probably bombspam them)
PoFV - FUCK YOU ~EIKI HOW HAVE YOU NOT TAKEN A SINGLE HIT IN 7 MINUTES?
MoF - Also encourages bombspamman, though more for the stage portions and not bosses. Aya and Kanako are the only real challenges
SA - Normal would probably be Hard on most other games. I'm not really a fan of any of the shot types either.
UFO - Are you good at item GET? No? Stay the fuck away

>> No.4254941

Don't forget IN still punishes deathbomban by using up 2 if you need the extra window, as well as reducing your Time count. Sure you get an extra powerful bomb, but it's pretty much always better to use 2 singles
