Awesome, I don't have to re-create the Ar Tonelico III thread.

Before the thread 404'd, people were talking about NISA and localizations. I was hoping that discussion would continue.

Somebody said Atlus USA was better than XSeed and Ignition. If you're still there, what's wrong with XSeed and Ignition? I'm curious. (I might understand Ignition, if they're the reason the dialouge in Nostalgia and Muramasa were so bland and boring, but I still want to know.)

The only experience I've had with XSeed was with Rune Factory Frontier.
Dub only. By Bang Zoom.
Cast has both Johnny Yong Bosch (Main Character) and Wendy Lee (Crazy Book Lady)
They had the balls to dub the Grimoire Song, and various other Lah-lah-lah pieces. Impressive.

Some inconsistencies in translation:
Renamed "Forest of Beginnings" to "First Forest."
Inconsistent with changing "Viviash" to "De Saint Coquelle"
Inconsistent with calling them "yams" or "sweet potatoes;" One instance of voice over saying one and the text saying the other.
One of the rune stone's item names was too long, so it cut off at "Ston"

It''s also impossible to find a copy. On release day, I found one in a Gamestop, but it was the gutted display copy.

I hear XSeed's work on Avalon Code was worse, though.

The XSEED titles I have are Retro Game Challenge, and Half-Minute Hero. Both I think are perfectly fine in terms of translation. Couldn't say off the top of my head that there were any noticeable inconsistencies either. For the full Lunar 1 experience I would recommend playing the Sega CD version then playing the PS1 version, and skipping the GBA version unless you really really like Lunar and want yet another retelling of the same story (GBA version is okay, but the battle system is dumbed down a bit, plus it lacks anime cutscenes and Working Designs' hilarious localization). The Sega CD version is a bit outdated, however, so going only with the PS1 version wouldn't be a bad option. The Sega CD version's interface is relatively hard to work with and it lacks the graphics/fully animated cutscenes and extras of the PS1 version. Still, the PS1 version has some changes to the story and character additions that will be all the more meaningful if you had played the Sega CD version already.

If you decide you want to play Lunar 2, which I actually like more than the first, I recommend the Sega CD version over the PS1 version. The interface in the Sega CD version is much improved over the first Lunar, and it's a lot more challenging and balanced than its PS1 counterpart. The only advantages the PS1 version really has are the more risque/uncensored content (Sega made Working Designs edit some symbols and enemy graphics, but it's minor anyway), better animated cutscenes and graphics, and some minor extras like collectible images. Otherwise, they have the same music and even most of the same voice clips, but the Sega CD version has more animated scenes. There are far fewer differences between the two versions of Lunar 2 compared to the two console versions of Lunar 1.

I still have vague hopes that Sony will come through with a physical -> digital trade-in system, and I can purge my UMD collection. So other than that, I would like physical copies to play. Mir was created as an experiment for a powerful Reyvateil, with an empty cosmosphere and no freedom.
Saki supposedly was created to sing the song which will end the world, as the game's title suggests, details are obviously unknown, but it looks like she had an easier time than Mir.
