I wish it was easier to buy from Japanese doll clothing makers. I follow a lot, but it looks like they just do limited batches vs constantly having stock available. I get it, though. Doll clothes aren't easy to make. Maybe I'll stock up on sewing books while the yen is still low and go make my own clothes. Are you guys working on any doll crafts?

Thing is, they're mostly only popular in certain circles -- overall DDs are still more well known in the west by virtue of being made by Volks. SmD caught on with the American Girl crowd (no shade to them,) and they're kind of viewed more like playline dolls than they are adult collectibles -- which is unfortunate, because between the vinyl options, I'd say they're the most fragile overall. The arm joints are manufactured in a way that causes them to be vulnerable to splitting apart, and while you can usually pop them back together, if something chips, you need replacements (which are again hard to obtain because Danny doesn't just... sell parts normally like anyone else.) It's kind of unfortunate, but Choo is a dick, so mostly it's funny.

There are some options. There are some extremely large (1:2 scale) realistic-style resin dolls from companies like Dollmore, and there are anime-style sex dolls from companies like aotume and irokebijin, but their jointing system is internal. Obitsu also has a 150cm anime-style jointed doll, but it doesn't look great honestly. Naturally, from the size alone, they are all considerably expensive.

Yeah, vinyl is many things but weight-bearing is not one of them, and resin isn't any better in that regard. Even sex dolls with internal frames can only go so big, because TPE/silicone will tear under its own weight and the weight of gravity over time -- as well as the fact that those are both heavy, heavy materials at scale. For something like that it would need to be cast from plastic and would likely be hollow to save on weight... a mannequin is genuinely not a bad idea at that point, then just find a way to diy one of the big anime heads onto them- maybe even a kigu mask at that scale would be easier to work with. It wouldn't look perfect, but options at this scale are limited. Some people get extremely large things commissioned as plushes (there are people who will do this on etsy,) but that doesn't satisfy your stipulation that the material must be hard. Honestly, you could try... looking into different crafting materials and so on, maybe learn to make your own? It would certainly be a wild project, why not give it a try?

About the price. Yeah those works can be really expensive. I recon something like 30000 to 100000 easily for the famous artists. I've got a Nikon D3400 and it's more than adequate, has affordable lenses, and gives me all the control I could want. There are newer models with better sensors and features if you want, there's room to move up. Unless you're planning on showing these photos professionally, by the time you crop, edit, and compress to share on here, Twitter or Instagram you won't notice the major difference between a DSLR and a Mirrorless/full frame. Lenses and focal length are going to be way more important.

No of course I was gonna buy one, but after researching a bit, I saw a lot of people talk about the new modern mirrorless cameras. So, if I had the money in theory, it's a better choice to go after that new system instead of DSLR cameras (which is a "dead" system).

The point I was making was that a part of me still wanted to go after DSLR even after reading that anyway, because they are bigger you sort of look more professional, thus a perfect larp for a guy taking pictures of dolls outside. I really like their resin, I got the white. It's a very nice pearlescent-ish white, it took blush really well. It's got a nice texture and feel to it, very silky. The eyewells are tiny though, I had to get custom eyes that fit.

these photos have a very sweet and innocent vibe, I think the lower image quality helps conveying that idk. I would say the best pictures are the first and last one. The first one is great because you include more of the background, the last one is creative plus the lightning is good as well, imo the second one you had a good idea but the bad lightning kinda ruins it a bit.

Keep trying new angles, maybe take a pic with your doll above the ground as well, that way you will include a better and wider view of the background

I have not tried it myself, but some fellows modify their Dollfie Dreams in order to make them "usable". They will use a very specific commercial onahole and a soft vinyl bust, and replace the nomal torso and bust with those parts. The process requires to make a new inner frame with metallic wire or plastic. It doesn't seem particularly difficult to do, but you would need a tutorial. The results can look nice, like the picture attached.

For minor abrasions you just deal with it and maybe carefully cut off that excess part with a razor, TPE glue actually melts that shit so you can stick it back together so you have to be careful with it and not just smear it all over the thing
