80GBs aren't fully software emulated, there's still a hardware element to it, although it's heavily rumoured that Sony perfected PS2 emulation purely on the Cell around the time they filed for that patent.

Originally, it was removed because people were buying PS3s just to play PS2 games, while PS2s were still in production and profitable. During this time Sony was losing massive amounts of money on PS3s sold, PS3 software that wasn't selling, and they had a fuckload of PS2s sitting around that were not getting sold, and they didn't like it.

They removed backwards compatibility from newer models to force people to but PS2s to play PS2 games. Now the PS2 is pretty much dead, they're either just too lazy to put it back in, don't want to because they know it will cause a shitstorm amongst people who have a non-B/C model, or have some massive evil plan to re-release PS2 games on the PS3 and charge a fuckload for them.

Actually playing PS2 games on my PS3 and PS2 in conjunction feels like I'm fighting the man. Using the PS2 in other rooms/smaller televisions then using the memory card adapter to play the same games with the PS3...

The 1st generation had both of the main PS2 hardware chips on board. The 2nd generation (80gb) removed the PS2 cpu but kept the graphics chip, which made software emulation easier, since it only had to emulate 1 of the chips. AT is more like a VN with some added gameplay.
In a way it can sometimes feel as if it's VN-parts one after another followed up by occasional battle events(Story Battles. The random mobs aren't much of a fight if you read through the VN parts first).
Lots of different choices and Heroines with their own routes, and the characters are in more focus than the gameplay itself.
It truly is down to it's very core, a Galge game, and there really isn't any reasons for why it shouldn't fit in /jp/.
Fights and the likes occure in many other VNs as well, and just like how you can die and get "game over" here, you can get Bad ends in other VNs. And just like in other VNs you can chose choices in order to avoid the Bad ends, and it is kind of like that in AT as well, if you made the right choices beforehand you should be fine(And that should never 'have' to include grinding, as long as you made the right story choices beforehand)

Will you avoid listening to the soundtrack and songs until the game is available in english and you hear it first hand in the game?

it is the first time. what you can do is use jean(male MC) and melpha(the nun) to heal the monster girl. jean only needs to be the one to get the perfect knockdown, you can leave one piece of armor blinking red and just make a gamesave and hope you get the break with jean.

For the emu users, a question. A few of the backgrounds, such as the dualstall bath and most of the cosmosphere dialogues have a split background, is there a fix for this? I am using PCSX2 0.9.6, GSDX graphic plugin SSE2 0.1.14.

Well her plan was using the main character to get a way into the city and have access to the restricted areas so she could find her sister, she says that when they break into the lab.

There is way more then that, that is before phase 2 and the whole Maiden angle with Metafalica starts to show up ... its complicated but Luca is actually a good girl (the only non-tsundare choice, well there is supposed to be a Coco ending if you dont do a lv5 shift in any of then) as you start to see later after all that mess.

Anyone else having problems emulating this only on Windows 7? For some reason I can't use any other DVD plugin than Linuz Iso CDVD 0.8.0, because they just won't load the game and stay on a black screen at the start. The Linuz plugin is really buggy, though. I don't know how to describe it, but there are weird graphical errors everywhere, and I didn't have this back when I emulated it on XP and Vista.

I for one am glad. AT1 had giant breasts on Spica, Aurica, and adult Misha. Only Shurelia and Young Misha were DFCs

In AT2 while Luca has modest sized breasts she is not a DFC. Once again Spica and Cloche are huge, and Mir is the only DFC.

In 3 it looks like 2 of the 3 main heroines will be DFC and thats quite fine with me.

There's nothing wrong with Luca. Being messed up/disturbed is one of her high point as a character. She's just more fun to watch imo.

Well, if she was the first one then it really is a quite young term, though to be honest it doesn't sound all that attractive.
I myself chosed Croche for my first playthrough, but it feels like as if doredere somehow gives the wrong impression of Luca.
Sure, dorodoro might be "messed up" with lots of different and complicated and even conflicting feelings and I suppose that both love and hate can be present with various strength, but

somehow gives of a feeling of a character that is unable to have true feelings.
So i guess that it actually should fit her perfectly, though it might not always do her justice if people make shallow assumptions based soley on this. (Though that's kind of true for all the moe arch-types, but perhaps little more so for this one)
Luca was really acting like a major bitch and her betrayal was truly quite the hard blow, though reallove could still be present within her dorodoro-ness
