I almost got Yuyuko to her third bar in PCB on normal! I've been playing since last summer, and always got cut down by Youmu before having to use a continue. When I finally beat her today and got to Stage 6 I felt a feeling almost like as a kid when you get your report card back and show your parents how amazing you are...so fucking proud. I thought if I unlocked Stage 6 via 1CC that it would be available under practice....sucks that it isn't and I'll have to use continues to practice against Yuyuko now....I was so shook up I lost a bunch of lives to her with simple mistakes, I just felt so proud for overcoming my limitations.

Fuck Zun made an amazing game, I want to send him biru now.

Comparing a generic STG to a world famous JRPG. Hi Jones. It's a shame the world doesn't agree with you, because if they did ZUN would be rich right now.

Enjoying games simply for their difficulty is moronic. Also, many games (including nextgen) would be hard if you tried to beat them with no continues. Try beating the latest 2D Mario game with no continues. Not to say Touhou is hard or anything, come back once you've 1cc'd lunatic. PCB's normal mode is pretty easy.

Fun is only semi subjective. As there are clearly some game genres that outsell the others. The STG genre didn't have what it takes to compete with the ever changing compound-genres of the next generation.
