what the fuck is the appeal of touhou gachas. i can understand the rhythm game i guess, but every time i see lost word "gameplay" it looks like a worse f/go. the art looks incredible bland as well which is half the reason why someone would even play a jpeg collector, from what ive seen of it the rhythm game has some decent art

Probably.
That plagiarism game was a side-scroller shooting announced (and died) almost a year ago. It was the same genre as the new one (if op is right) and they are both distributed by Klab. I don't think Klab can find another dev to make a brand new game in a year. The new dev, Damo Games seems to be another chink company and its reputation is not the best either.
The best I can expect for is that they are the same shovelware but all the stolen artworks have been changed. Hope it'll surprise me in a good way.

My first impression of these gacha games is based on whether reimu's art is showing her belly. If she is, then it usually means the game focuses more on fanservice than on adhering to canon (eg lost word). If she isn't, the game has got a decent chance to be good (eg danmaku kagura).

Never gonna happen. It's way more profitable to reskin an existing gacha engine with new pngs commissioned from pixiv artists than developed an actual game, paypigs want quick dopamine rushes on the go.

Sometimes I wonder if we're gonna hit a point in time where gacha games are no longer profitable as a whole but honestly, I don't see that happening anytime soon if ever. A pity.

That's all gachas have ever been good for, and Touhou's always been the porn thing and hopefully there's some of whatever designs they throw out but I've got my hopes low after the practically fucking nothing LW gave us. But the appeal is much less important than the money ZUN's going to be pocketing with these kusoge's and is the only reason why they're happening in the first place, because we all know 2hu isn't profitable, but thats the same logic you've heard a thousand times over by now I suppose.

AFAIK so long as you can pre-cook mechanics to slap onto random units and pay server costs you will make a massive profit; don't even need to commission artists because even well-known names will work for free to have more stuff to put on their resume. Case in point Asanagi "Meme" Fatalpulse did just that for like two gachas, and only got paid to design an alt design for some chinese one. Point is they're never ever going to go away and its a god damn shame, because while there's always going to be good mobage's the way that they're made and shoved out means that is nothing less than a miracle.

I wonder if ZUN is mad at himself for not jumping on the gacha kusoge bandwagon earlier, if he had gone in at about the time F/GO got huge then he could've made similar money. Now I don't think that it would be as popular as F/GO but he'd still be swimming in cash.
Well, it was good for us that the touhou gacha games came out after the market got saturated, imagine the damage the community wouldve taken if the touhou gacha was one of the forerunners of the genre instead of just another one in the pile
