OK... to clarify what exactly happened back there...

It was a tiny... thing we call pinger embedded in a jpg file which executes once you previewed/opened it. I'm not the one who wrote it. I merely supported him financially so I could use it as an alternative to accurately track exclusive "paying" clients in my umm... other NSFW site (my involvement is strictly financial... I'm not involved in operations whatsoever)

You simply can't see the IP addresses of 4chan posters unless you:
a) Link to a webserver you control and check referers.
b) Embed something like an image, iframe, etc on 4chan.
c) Haxed 4chan's anus.
d) Bribed someone that works at 4chan's DC and you're sniffing on traffic.

I'm not going to bother with the last two because you would be doing a lot more than "checking people's known IPs with 50/50 accuracy" if you actually went through with something like that.

The second is impossible, you simple can't post any sort of HTML to 4chan unless you're a mod (and if you are, you can see IPs already). The only alternative would be to buy ads. Oh, wait, those are served off content.4chan.org. So no dice here either.

And even so, even if he did link to a site we all went to and that he controlled or bought ads on 4chan whose images aren't served off content.4chan.org, you can't possibly link IP addresses to actual posters or users without some sort of XSS exploit on 4chan that allows you to grab cookies. And honestly, are you kidding me? There's almost nothing dynamic on 4chan other than posting and reporting. MrVacBob-sama would have to commit harakiri if he made a mistake like that. Not to mention that imgboard.php's code was leaked. I may have overlooked something, but I read through the whole thing; the only somewhat funny thing I found was that you can technically report stickies if you just send the request directly.

This is disregarding the fact that if mugen's friend really had an XSS on 4chan, he could do a lot more interesting stuff like grab moot's admin cookies and log on the admin panel. Also get all of our tripcodes.

mugen, if you really are paying a guy to do this for you, he's lying out of his ass and ripping you off. Enjoy being scammed.

What you're saying is:
- Your friend found a remote code execution exploit that does the same thing on TWO UNRELATED JPEG LIBRARIES AT THE SAME TIME. Now, a GDI+ exploit is very plausible, but the latest libjpeg version is from 1998. You're saying a remote code exploit sat there for 11 years on one of the most used libraries on our planet, with the (short and simple) source available for everyone to see and your friend just found it.
- Assuming the above is true, your friend is currently sitting on one (technically two different ones) of the most serious security vulnerabilities in years. Instead of talking to right people, rake in dozens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of dollars and pretty much land a job at any company he wants, he's using it to poke around at 4chan (and not even doing a good job at it) and wait until some other guy gets the credit for what he discovered.
