Any kind anons here familiar with how to repackage files into an .arc file for a BGI/Ethornell engine? I know this isn’t necessary for patched files to work, but it makes it a hell of a lot more manageable once a patch is complete.

From what I saw, daito's patch is a bunch of files in the same directory, so I'm guessing that the engine has priority reading just like krkr, which prioritizes external files followed by the packaged ones.
What do you need to edit?

>> No.39173941

>>39173583
BGIkit should be able to decode any patched scenario files ripped with garbro, spit out a txt you can edit in notepad++, and then you reencode them with the originals the game came with. Stick that in the game folder and voila.

Or is there a problem with the patched files that makes this impossible? I’ve never tried to edit a patch, but I understand the concept in theory.

Funny thing you ask that, I've been looking for tools myself for the longest time:

BGI/Ethornell has two versions: v1 and 2.0.
1.0 can be both extracted and compiled with AEtools.
2.0 features encryption and remained uncracked for a long time... until now. I found a tool from some Chinese guy that cracked the encryption.
https://github.com/crskycode/BGIArcPack
It needs to be compiled. Here's my version:
https://mega.nz/file/AEhhETxI#piHk0Rj3pnX1t_ufo0snxlyUoP6wlIXIfEy7jvE0WJM
Tested with Shiravune's release of HaremKingdom (pic related, the very first line of the game)

Remember to use SacanaWrapper to make your life easier.
https://github.com/marcussacana/SacanaWrapper/
With it, dumping and inserting scripts becomes just drag and drop.

>Honorifics
Aw, I was hoping you were the guy who did the restoration patches for Shiravune games. Oh well.

Why don't you grab the tools, then? Do it yourself.
Sure, it's easy to replace all instances of Bubby, but then you're left with a bunch of 'brother' instances, some of which are at the start of a line, so it's 'Brother' with capital B. A lazy quick replace will fuck up something. I know because that's what exactly happened
Changing name order is easy in the introduction scenes, but then you have to take care of separate instances where someone uses the name or surname.
You have to do an edit pass, otherwise it's going to be a lazy, bad effort.

Wrong, I can do a lot with this knowledge, like spoil VN and keep some retards from reading and enjoying it. I can do "this translation sucks so much" thread on r*ddit with examples and keep even more people away from buying it.

The easier tools are to use, the more likely we are to get shit low effort translations, or God forbid, edited MTL patches.
Hackers/engineers should be held responsible for garbage releases as much, if not more than the retards handling the text.

Reverse engineering the bytecode so that you have complete control is what takes more time and effort. Also, unicode support.

Most of his late releases are evns, rpgmaker and gay shit. The normal release are culled down in favor of the former so don't expect any big surprise from them.

I do wonder if they will announce a new release for next month like they usually do. Only Uchikano seems ready for a release. They could also be following the industry trend of not announcing a few games months/years before release at cons like they did before. People don't seem to like that any more.

I personally don't like either extreme. It's nice to have things to look forward to, but at the same time I don't want to wait multiple years. What would be ideal to me is to announce everything planned for a certain year. That said, at the rate mg are announcing things, they won't have enough stuff for a monthly release schedule anymore without heavily relying on shovelware trash to fill in the gaps. I think they're almost back to their older days almost a decade ago unless they have a ton of stuff under wraps.

With Rance, it was sort of justifiable because people were paranoid about license stealing (and Rance X has the excuse of being fucking huge to justify an obnoxiously long wait). Lucky Dog and Sona-nyl are just kind of sad though. 6 years for Sona-nyl (if it does come out this year) is ridiculous, and there's zero report of any progress on Lucky Dog (not that I care).

The protagonist is has many shit moments that might enervate you. At times you'd wish he was an actual faceless guy with no-presence at all. Better to shut up than to talk stupid.

The girls are all good and worth it, each one of them. The story is fine, not so much the way to tell it because of the shit protagonist. But the girls are good enough to overlook that.
