I really hope ZUN avoids doing something like this again in the future. Yukari has gone from THE Sage, to a laughing stock. A huge part of her character was based on this view of her being a shadowy manipulator respected and feared by all has been dispelled completely by the appearance of Okina, that can do what gappy can +++, and the recent chapters in LS and FDSK where she gets called socially retarded by Suika and is outwitted by a vengeful spirit. Some will point to SSiB as the point where she started declining but I'd disagree, though I can see why many would stop liking her there and there.

SSiB dispelled the view many had of her as being an omnipotent being, so if someone liked her because of powerlevel autism then it'd be a big blow to their perception of her. Imo SSiB did wonders for her character, it established a clear limit for her ability which means that to get shit done she needs to be crafty, and it also made her quite petty, which is perfect for a youkai.

Well, A. Yuyuko would never partake in some big plot to disrupt the lunar capital, she is a friend of Yukari but it's quite clear that she has her own agenda (lazing about for eternity) so she'll avoid anything that can bring an end to that and B. if she and Youmu did try to pull off some big plot on the moon they would either be discovered and attacked (and considering how they could only get out on a full moon that'd be terrible for them) or they would pull it off and later the lunies would invade gensokyo in retribution. Having some sake stolen isn't enough to cause the Watatsukis to go down to earth, especially considering that Eirin is there and their political opponents can claim that they went there for a meetup, but if something big was done against the lunar capital there would be an invasion.

I can't comprehend how one can like both when they're very opposite from each other aside from being very powerful. Aside from 17.5, Okina usually faces her opponent head on, if they get pass Mai and Satono. Yukari uses trickery and deceit and prefers it if someone else do the dirty work for her. If Okina feels like showing off she just cause an incident. And then you have Yukari who trapped Miyoi in a bottle just because no one invites her to drink along.
