I think far less than that. MTL has improved in leaps and bounds in the past year or so. The main stumbling blocks at this point are context based things, like knowing the right pronouns to use or the correct implied subject or something, but these can potentially be improved by throwing more computing resources at it to at least some extent. Yeah it's not going to be perfect any time soon but as far as reaching a "good enough" point where it can keep up with your typical translated release and your average reader isn't going to notice too many errors, I think we're closer than you'd think.

Yeah I don't think we're really "there" yet, but I can also see that progress has moved quickly lately and we're getting close in many ways. Purpose-built VN MTL solutions like Sugoi Translator can also give surprisingly good results sometimes, though in many ways it's rougher around the edges than DeepL is.

Right now I think I probably wouldn't rely on MTL still for anything I want to actually enjoy for the story, but for porn or just to get a surface level understanding (while still missing some details as >>38519495 >>38519464 ) it can be acceptable. Maybe in another 2-3 years we'll get to the point where the gap narrows further, I think it looks hopeful anyway.

Though I am aware there is a barrier beyond which a computer can't really improve without actually "understanding" the text, which is a much more complex problem that won't be solved for decades if not more... But I think even getting Ixrec-level translations in a few key presses would still be an amazing achievement.

The only corruption that was kinda tricky imo was Ashera, as you had to do several Erisha events beforehand. The other two were very straightforward in comparison.

I wasn't sure if this game would pull a Ragnarok and give you a GAME OVER if I didn't have enough points one way or another so I made sure I did more chaos options than I would normally like, to the detriment of several characters like score. Pic related almost made me quit Ragnarok.

Erisha's events probably don't matter. "She" may appear to bamboozle Ashera anyway. You need to have Ashera on her chaos event track, AND do the maid's events, is what I think.

Fellow Watanabe fan here, unfortunately there really isn't a lot of other writers like Watanabe out there, and I've definitely looked.

Your best bet obviously is to just read his other games, his older doujinge with Hanpamania Soft are extremely good too and very distinctively his style, although they obviously have their problems too in some ways more distinctively with the doujin style, if you liked everything you've read by him you'll like them too for sure. Just start with Fuyugami and go through them all is the best way. Aokana and Kanoseka are obviously kamige too if you haven't done them yet?

Now if you're looking for other writers too, I can't guarantee you'll like these but here's a couple of ideas worth a try:
Sca-ji works have denpa/shimoneta comedy writing leading into philosophy too, with a similar level of research and detail put into them
Shumon works are more poetic literature than the hard scifi Watanabe style, but they both have heart poured into them in the same kind of way, I definitely think there's an overlap in fanbases there.
Ichikawa Tamaki (Leyline, Kiminago etc) - this is more for if you like the mystery element of the Kuru series, and the way they build the scifi elements into the reveals, could be worth a try?
Niijima (especially Aikome, Koikake) - these definitely don't have the same level of polish and quality as Watanabe games, but the generally fun style and touching on some interesting scifi/philosophical elements might appeal to you?

Not necessary anymore. Got lucky and part 2 of an A-S upload was enough to extract the 90MB DLC. No need to get the slow 1GB katfile. Might be the only upload of the DLC so if you want it get it now.

The DLC installer didn't work because no registry keys, but extracting the file directly worked.

Then I broke the game. I clicked on the DLC icon on title menu before ever starting the main story and that borked the internal flowchart in the saves. Starting the main story produced an error. After deleting the saves it worked. Sloppy Waffle. I hate that eroge DLC is a thing.
