Kind of the same here, although I only started playing it this break.
I think it's more the achievement of getting to that status which appeals to me.
I just went through the majority of the girls' events until settling on Manaka, then got to boyfriend status, then dated a little and haven't touched it since.

Then again, I do get everything done before marrying the girls, but I've still got issues playing past the second spring. I think I've never played more than a year an a half in any of the games except for the original SNES.
