I love Tatari for how chilling it is, with Keiichi experiencing several things that make you doubt the nature of the curse as presented in the two previous chapters. Not DBZ fights in Higurashi though. The rooftop scene isn't comparable at all since it's still grounded in reality, just two kids fighting with a bat and a cleaver, not going super saiyan and flying around. The fight in Tsumihoroboshi works because it's used to make Rena reminisce about the competitive club games she had in the past and realize how much of her happiness she's throwing away with her insane beliefs. The flying shit in Sotsu happens just for the sake of being "cool", Satoko is satisfied by Rika's words and determination, they didn't have to go full dbz for that.

How can anyone even be bothered to re-read the dullest novel in the history of visual novels. Seriously each episode following the boy sorcerer and his family from Rokkenjima as they fight assorted witches has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Ryukishi vetoed the idea of BT editing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his novels. The Umineko series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Saya no Uta in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

The writing is dreadful; the novel was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character died, the author wrote instead that the character "fell like a puppet with its strings cut."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Ryukishi’s mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Umineko by the same Kinoko Nasu. Well, no. There's a segment in Saku where Bernkastel revealed that she was "in higurashi", but Saku isn't part of the CANON manga so that isn't part of Umineko's canonicity.
But we actually see a flashback of Bernkastel's master in the episode 6 manga and it reveals that it was Hanyuu. So Bernkastel is confirmed to be Rika by the manga.

I was asked before about the appeal of making cuckolds get the snip. All I can say here is there is a practical element to it, it just makes the experience much more intense psychologically. I’ve heard from some that they find the procedure “clarifying” in that they now know, no matter what they do, short of a reversal it’ll be me who is the cause of any pregnancy.
Some talk to me about how they find it hot that someone (me) just came into their life and “ended their bloodline” or “took them out of the genepool”. I can see the appeal of this, although a bit humility in me doesn’t want to develop any sense of genetic superiority here and cruelty while hot in consensual doses doesn't entirely motivate me.
There was a reasonably well-off couple in which the male partner is the eldest son and comes from a pretty prestigious family; I feel a bit sorry for him as he has/had far too many expectations of him from his family and he gets pestered from all sides about “having a son”. This is to the point where parts of his inheritance (not a small amount) are actually linked to having a family and children.
To be clear, I think this sort of parental/cultural expectation just makes for unhappy children and adults. It isn’t good at all.
The upside of this is that as a bit of a fuck you to his dad and with some guidance from me, he is now unable as the of result of a vasectomy to have children, and his wife is pregnant with my daughter. His dad isn't any the wiser, and I know he'd have a fit if he knew that for all his efforts (read: parental bullying), whatever heritage he believed he'd pass on is completely done.

Not liking Umineko so far. Currently at mid-episode 3.
I'm very confused and don't know what to think. I'm about halfway of chapter 3 and I don't know what to think. The chapters have been insanely long, I feel like the drag on and extend too much on the scenes that could be otherwise interesting and making them boring in the process. I would have preferred shorter and more concise scenes.

Also the "action" scenes just make me cringe to be honest and are badly written in my opinion. I could take as an example other VNs like Tsukihime or Fate where in my opinion the battle scenes where written wonderfully with good pacing and so descriptive in details that you actually felt that you were watching the scene before your eyes. Here it's just like "I'm doing this" or "activating this power" with some conversation or inner monologue about something that in most cases has been repeated countless times before (I swear the "I'm furniture" and "I'm not furniture" dialogues were said a thousand times in Episode 2)

Episode 1 had a very slow buildup but when the murders actually started it good interesting and kept me entertained for most of it starting this point but dragged too much and I was already getting bored when I finished it. Episode 2 had good things and you start to see more things about the characters and their backstories, I'd say the episode was decent but I think what dragged it down to me were the Beatrice-Battler conversations, where basically everyone of them was a lenghty repeat of the same conversation. For episode 3, the lenghty conversations and slow pace have made it boring again, I feel like if the scenes were half of their lenght it would have been better. I'm currently just after the Beatrice-Beatrice battle.

Should I keep playing? Doesn't it get better?

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to looper keeping but have managed to start 2 medium sized colonies of Rikas and Satokos. I have converted my basement into a "looper room" and they seem to be getting along quite well.
The only issue I'm having is that its really hard to keep this many loopers contained. No matter what I do the loopers tend to find a way into the rest of the house and occasionally start glowing and flying around fighting each other.
I don't believe my wife will let me keep the loopers if I can't get this under control.
