The basic principle of a record label is selling records and they can't do that when their old talents retire, so obviously they'll try finding new talents and raise them into new stars, funding the rookies with the income that comes from veterans.
Record labels and seiyuu agencies aren't really any different in that aspect; normal people don't really have any chances to "establish" themselves so they have to go through the open audition/competition route and/or have their parents make them participate in commercial activities as a child to build connections (in Mizuki's case singing, in Minase's case junior idol stuff).

I read recently that Akio Otsuka is replacing Kobayashi as Jigen. Now, mind you, I think that it's excellent casting and he's a perfect fit but something bothers me. The current seiyuu for Fujiko and Goemon are fairly young, both being under 45 years of age. However, Zenigata and Jigen, the characters with the deepest voices, are both played by men in their 60's. Were there really no younger seiyuu capable of playing them? Because as good as Yamadera and Otsuka are, you're going to have to replace them in the next 10-20 years.
Who would you even replace them with? It feels like most of the young male seiyuu right now can only voice generic MC's or edgelord rivals. Male voices don't seem to change with time as much as their female counterparts (If you don't believe me go watch Nadia, Otsuka had the same voice back then as he does now).

Most voice acting is done with mid-production, so casting should be before. Seiyuu announcements are more of a promotional thing than a production thing. KnY S2 is airing in Fall, pretty sure they have the early episodes done and the additional cast was decided long ago.

I'm surprised. I got a question! I can answer a lot having lived in both the US and now in Japan.
The answer is the difference in culture and expectations during sex. Japan has a long tradition of "恥じらい," or this sexual type of shame, where women feel embarrassed over being depicted for liking sex. Obviously, this has changed over the years, especially with recent Westernization and social media.
However, at the end of the day, Japan is typically more primal and ceremonial. If a woman goes to a man's apartment alone, there's a social understanding it will lead to sex. The woman typically pretends that she doesn't want it, and waits for the man to push her down (quite literally). She'll usually say "No! Stop!", but obviously this was the intent all along. It also gives plausible deniability. If the woman already has a boyfriend, or if her friends find out she slept around, she can always claim she was "forced".
It's rather complicated as there are many pieces different from the West. Feel free to ask if you want anything additional clarified.

In any event, there is no concept of Western sex in Japan, so they would have no clue what you were talking about. If anything, they might get upset you never made a move, or upset you stopped when they said stop. They would most likely ghost you after. A lot of Japan is being "smooth". Weirdly enough, in a lot of cases, how smooth you are is far more important than looks in Japanese society. Well, not 98%. According to recent government studies, 50% of all marriages are "sexless" where the couples rarely, if ever, have sex. Traditionally, the woman also handles the finances in a marriage and gives money to the man as an allowance. This isn't necessarily the case all the time in modern Japan, but it's common. Cheating is rampant with both men and women.
You have to understand that after getting married in Japan, it's required to have the signature of both parties to get divorced. This leads to a lot of couples staying together even though they don't like each other. Just the idea of having to sit down and both agree to get divorced is a conversation that people avoid. Who wants drama, right? The other party could always say no, and now you're stuck in a super awkward situation.
You then mix in legalized prostitution (insertion is technically illegal, but no one cares), and a society which likes to keep secrets and do things when no one is looking, well you get tons of cheating.
Now to be fair, a lot of Japanese people get married to create a "household" and it's not a decision that has to do with physical attraction, or a Western idea of marriage. They then seek this sexual pleasure outside of marriage, which a lot of people see as non-problematic (provided no one finds out). The bible and Western religion basically doesn't exist in Japan, so there's really no stigma towards sex. Some people consider sex on the level of a hug in Japan. If you can hug someone, you can have sex with them. Likewise, you don't really hug anyone in Japan like you do in the West (though again that somewhat is changing due to Westernization, but not as much as someone in the West might believe).

Well, no, actually. No one uses any word close to "consensual" when it comes to sex. There is the word, rape, however, but it's literally the Engish word for it (レイプ). Yeah, there's some other Japanese words, but they're not really used like that and "レイプ" is the most common. It's just a different culture. If a woman goes willingly to a situation where there's likely to be sex, it's just the social contract that makes that the consent in and of itself. But it's interesting because this specific effect leads to the overbearing male/female. They demand that their significant other take pictures wherever they are. A lot of men/women will automatically take pictures of their current location (like train station sign visible) to demonstrate that they are not cheating. There's even couples-only apps, where it's only for messaging your significant other. GPS tracking is also common for these relationships. Everyone is completely nice in public (for the most part...). That's why 敬語 (keigo) exists. You follow social norms. In public, you're expected to act a certain way, and dress a certain way. In private, people are literally animals.
To be completely fair, there's nothing really "taboo" about sex. Women are just embarrassed to admit the pleasure part of it or wanting it, and it's not really everyone. This is just the tradition. No, not really. It's unspoken quite a bit. Girl goes to house. You take her to your bedroom. She just doesn't say anything and follows. You start touching her, she doesn't really stop you. She might say "Stop." But you'll notice she hasn't gotten up and tried to leave. Kind of a complex question. Back in the day, depending on the karaoke parlor this could be a yes, and maybe even a strong yes. There didn't use to be cameras, and people would fuck in karaoke parlor rooms all the time. Now, the answer is probably a no because of the camera aspect. Since there's "people watching" you're technically not alone. It could be considered a date though, or a prelude to sex.

Well, growing up in the US with Japanese grandparents (mom doesn't speak Japanese), I was able to speak a decent amount before I came to Japan, but it took me 2 years of basically living with a roommate (which is rare in and of itself) to learn the culture. This is after basically being half native.
My roommate basically brought home girls every week, so it helped me learn pretty quick how things worked. He'd literally fuck girls in the living room and not care. The girls didn't care either. Of course they acted like they did, but again they didn't. That's really how it works. If they really cared, they wouldn't have fucked in the living room in the first place and run around naked.
I guess I never really had an issue with the "rape" thing as weird as it sounds. Maybe it's because I adapted to the culture pretty fast, or maybe it's because I saw it happen in person so much that I became numb to it. There were some girls that literally would scream at the top of their lungs to stop, and that they would sue/file a police report, but they would literally come back the next week and have sex like nothing happened.

Probably not in the traditional Western sense, no. I can live with a Japanese girl and work together to create a stable life. Paying bills, doing typical housework, etc. But I'd still probably sleep with random younger girls on the side. It's just that type of culture, and for Japanese people who understand women, it's very easy to pick up or just straight up pay girls. Also, kind of a taboo topic in the West, but girls in high school (and even sometimes middle school) whore themselves out for money here and it's a rather common phenomenon to see 16-18 year old girls walking with like guys in their 30's and 40's, especially if you go to Kabukichou or Shibuya. A lot of people don't consider prostitution cheating, and a lot of wives even allow their husbands to make purely monetary transactions for sex, but not even have female friends.

Hmm.. I'm not sure. There's nice things about Japan, and there's nice things about the West/US. In Japan, you never really have to think about anything. It sounds like there's "less consent" but since everything works on general hard societal rules, there's very little you have to think about. Everyone wears the same popular clothes, everyone says the same things. Everyone talks about the same movies and bands. It's kind of relaxing in this way. But at the same time there's a serious lack of ambition in Japan, and it's very easy to get stuck in a rut (マンネリ). I guess to keep myself sane, I'd like to fly back and forth between the US and Japan, especially to visit family, but can't really do that with corona.
I guess if I had to pick, I'd marry someone Japanese, but that's mostly for the selfish reason of wanting to still hang around young girls even if I'm older.

I think a lot of people in Japan don't really talk about anything personal. People just really aren't as close as in the West. I guess you don't really make friends the same way. You have "friends" mostly by association. The person you talk to when you want to play X game. The person you want to talk to when you go shopping (girls do this). You don't really have one go to person for things. But yeah talking to people is mostly done to "kill time", and not really cause you enjoy someone's company.
To be honest, I have no clue why Japanese people like baseball so much. My guess is that it's somewhat losing popularity here, but I guess it's a team thing a lot of families are into, at least that's the feeling I get. There's a couple of big teams with huge backing, so it could just be corporate money propping it up. Fukuoka Hawks is run by Softbank, for example. I've only talked to a few people super into baseball and I mostly tuned it out. Something about パリーグ and セリーグ and tournaments and trash.

Sadly, I wish I knew more about seiyuu that I could tell you about if that's what you really care about, but I don't. I slept with a girl once that was trying to become a seiyuu, and I actually know a great deal about the anime industry (as in worked with some big names), but never interacted with any seiyuu.
I guess one of the things that really annoys seiyuu is that when anime is in production, they often run behind, and do "wirefame" drawings where nothing is drawn in and it's just the planned scenes. Usually they do the characters mouth movements and everything before the recording is actually done. So that's why sometimes things end up really awkward in anime.

I mean, I think that they wouldn't care if it's a job. Like Japanese people see people who do kids programs on TV (which is super embarrassing btw, strange dances, strange songs, etc.) but would say they're "頑張ってる" or trying hard. I mean they know that it's on the lewd side, and I think some Japanese people wouldn't be happy if their parents heard some of that stuff, but at the end of the day they're far more open about sex, and sex jokes are more commonplace among normal people. I think most people are understanding that audiences like that. However, I think it would also be pretty common for most normal girls to think "adult loser guys who do nothing but watch this stuff" are "gross" or きもい.
