Niche hobbies bring a smaller pool of creators and a smaller overall money pool, meaning that the chances of getting real excellence are simply lower than for general cosplay. In addition, i feel like there's another barrier in shapewear and mask development that's hampered by the small overall money pool and the high barrier to entry for the hobby.

Here's my two cents on the matter.

It's an easy trap for people to fall into where people consider new stuff --> progress.
The telltale sign here is you've thrown a lot of money into it with multiple masks and outfits and not much to show for it.
Then your mind starts to realize all that sunk cost.

It's quite normal for people to lose interest in older hobbies, and that's fine. We've seen many people come and go over the years too. One of the worst things you can do right now is keep throwing more money at it and expect something to change long-term.

Despite all that, I think many people end up too results oriented. For me, I've grown to really enjoy the process or the journey to getting said pictures. Those pictures may go nowhere in the grand scheme of things but that is fine, it is something I am proud of.
