I think I heard about her doing commissions soon after, and she even has commissions open right now, but doing commissions and doing a monthly manga are totally different, and she already had to delay it by 2 months previously.
Maybe her illness really was preventing her from consistently working on it, maybe she just couldn't handle the deadlines and gave an excuse to quit, or maybe ZUN himself was tired of the delays and asked her to resign, we don't know. But I don't think that she just got bored and quit, she still draws Touhou and retweeted stuff about ZUN, those don't seem like the actions of someone who got bored and jumped ship to me.
