How does Medicine's poison skills even work? What does poison even do exactly? I can't figure it out by playing around with it.

I just managed to get to floor 8 and do some damage before losing everyone. Here's my characters. Not shown are a lvl 80 reimu, lvl 33 tewi, 90 Remilia, 78 Marissa, and 51 Sanae. Only youmu, suika, sapphire, sunny milk, daiyousei, and Luna are MLB (fuck my luck). I've been using rabbit of good fortune on characters who have the right elements to break but get fucked with no elements unless I debuff to hell. I have to use either youmu or suika's last word + ran buffed up and spell cards but after that I have nothing for the next floor and just throw everything at it to get some health/barriers ready to go for the next day.

Any advice for my lineup/tweak my strategy? Reimu's skills aren't leveled up and mostly everyone gets 1-2 hit and dead without at least 2 barriers per turn.

honestly I'd say do what you can, clear the floors you can with what you've got. you don't have a ton of elemental coverage and your setup will only improve marginally by getting some characters higher level skills like reimu and sanae, but without a full Medicine or Mokou your options to stall are limited.

remember: Tower will come back. make use of the daily heal and you will be able to get pretty far regardless, 1-2 floors a day is fine, I don't think its possible for you to get to the final floor as you are now.

Do attacks get stronger between turns or something? Every turn the attacks get stronger and so do the spell cards even without me using debuffs. Also, does breaking a single barrier lower defence levels? Actually too, does it do more damage to use the weak element to do the full break or save it for after the full break?

I just did stage 10 and star sapphire had like 1500cp (or whatever that is for damage amount) in Sakuya's last shield, but the attempt before it went down to 300 after break.

Finally got 5 copies of the Yukari lunatic card. I cleared Lunatic Red, but fuck farming that for the card. I'll wait until I got better units so I can zone out and farm without thinking.

After dumping all my LWs for today, I had Reimu and Sanae whittle down Aya's last 50k HP.
The stall core is no joke, they were at no risk of dying for that entire fight.
Problem is that they took almost half an hour, because the duo deals as much damage as it takes.

I've been spicing that duo up with Suika/Youmu. As long as Reimu is pulling her aggro, your work is done noticeably quicker, and the damage girl isn't in any danger. Suika is better for that role, with her and Sunny Sanny's collective shield regen outpacing the need for it.
Though today I forgot to pop Reimu's shield against Aya's spellcard when she was on the verge of dying, and she demolished the poor shrine maiden. Things went downhill from there.

Aya is immune to both burn and poison so Medicine and Mokou are out so I had Youmu for her metal breaks and cashed out some spellcards once she got broken, then brought medi back for the fairy.
Also one thing that's surprising is how fucking hard Yukari can hit when her defenses are up, especially if they apply solo resistance down on themselves.
I've had her hit for close to 70k with her lv5 3P focus shot.
In most stall setups she's doing triple duty as the tank, the barrier support and the damage dealer. Love this hag to bits.

Anyone feel guilty about having lewd thoughts regarding Ran? I mean the personality of Yakumo Ran is a shinigami that Yukari put inside of another youkai. That means that somewhere locked deep inside of Ran is another being that is crying out for freedom while their body is highjacked by a foreign invader. Even if you romanced Ran and she genuinely loved you, if you had sex with her you would be raping the original owner of that body who in no way gave her consent. She would have to sit inside her own head silently screaming while you have sex with the thing that has imprisoned her.

This isn't always the case. Junko and Jo'on both released fairly recently but their kits are definitely reminiscent of 2020 Lost Word. Letty is ok at best for nuking and Sumireko needs accuracy team support to get better performance. But other than that, the recently released general units have been pretty good and same for most new festival units. Raiko, Sekibanki and Futo are excellent, Eiki Shiki is good too but not best of the best and Miko has one of the highest damaging LWs, behind Hecatia, Shion and Flandre with team support for max performance.

Break Lily in one turn. This can be done in one shot with your own Daiyousei, or full-charged spellcards from Patchouli and Reisen/Luna/Youmu/Nitori. Then use enemy Daiyousei's damage boost to your solo or all spellcards to kill Lily. Then you can stall cheese Daiyousei when she's alone.
Floors 11-20 are easy because you just have to kill one enemy, and the other enemy makes it easy for you to kill them.

Is it ever worth using seal crystals to full heal? I simply don't think I have enough in the tank for my units to get through the tower just off the daily heals. I can't stall cause of low skill levels and as soon as I run out of last words my progression ends and I need like 2 of them per floor.

Wow, Suika can even work as a solo tank. After Reimu and Sanae dispatched Chen, but died in an unfortunate fairy related accident, the oni managed to hold her own against the remaining fairy, and even finished the battle with nearly full shields.

yeah I'm on floor 20 now and Suika is easily the best regular character to bring, there's so many characters that have a weakness to her solo spread and she tanks for days and provides good switch in buffs, whilst almost always getting to use all her regular spell cards. I somewhat regret being so mad that I got all the dupes needed to MLB Sanny, because she's been overall decent, even if her LW is still total ass, I don't think I've seen it do over 10k damage. Medicine is great, and Ran and Yuyuko are self explanatory, honestly Youmu has been the worst of my MLBs, her damage isn't as good as I would've liked.

Otherwise, it depends how you play. A 4th school slot allows you to level someone while your farm team chills and get their morale back. Break barriers. Suika's spread shot counters Sakuya, Reimu's focus shot and Youmu's both shots (at 1P though) break Meiling.
Don't full break both of them at once though - break one of them and cram as much damage as you can while they're broken. Youmu's focus attack, for example, can deal like 30k hp, and well-timed spellcards go into hundreds of thousands.

For me, the order of elimination was barrier mob -> floor 2hu -> defense mob. The only major problem I encountered was finding enough breaks to full break the barrier mob. Stallmeme is also usable as long as you can blitz the floor 2hu to reduce the pressure from their Spell Cards and LW and grind down the mobs.

Floor 19 surely is a thing, i cleaned the sunny using p3 suika lw and p2 youmu lw but the moon fairy just wiped out my only tank, anyway, 3 floors for a day, taking it easy

Fun fact: You can quit battles for 2 SP to reroll for favorable RNG.
Alternatively, use Medicine's spellcard and skills to stack 5 layers of poison on it in one turn. Then have Medicine use another spellcard and Reisen use her reticle spellcard at minimum 2 boost. Even if the fairy heals off one layer of poison, Medicine will replace it and then Reisen will full break.

Use Medison to apply two layer of poison each turn for two turn to the neutral spirit. Third turn pop both her poison skills on it, LW and follow it up with a last word from a heavy hitter to knock it out. If you have her Rojo Marisa is a good choice because she will knock some of the Sun Spirit's barriers down. After that rotate in a team consisting of Sun/Moon/Water to burn down Youkai Jesus.

It is getting hard to keep track of stuff. It is easy to know to invest tokens in awakening Medicine first because of how ruthlessly efficient status breaking is. It is also similarly easy to figure out that awakening Ran and Suika is a good investment because of how good accuracy is. Then when you start getting into the more esoteric aspects it becomes more difficult. It is easy to fall into wanting to upgrade characters that you use frequently, and to neglect infrequently used character because they are so infrequently used that it just slips your mind. Likewise it is hard to keep track of infrequently used story cards that only two characters that you rarely use have equipped. You end up running into situations in the Tower where two characters that are infrequently used end up becoming the optimal solution to a current floor, only to discover that they both use the same infrequently used card. So you are forced to look through all the cards you have, find a sub-optimal card to use as a backup, and hope that it is not used by another friend that you currently have on your team.

It is easy to think that, "Oh the next time I draw X card I will lock it so that I can slot it into Y friend and not have to worry about this again," only to forget about it because that note gets lost in your pages and pages of notes. Likewise you can think to yourself, "the next time I recycle a bunch of cards I will invest a certain amount of tokens into Y friend because they will be able to benefit Z party comps." There are too many variables going on at any given time for my scatterbrain to remember every priority I have no matter how many notes I take. If anything the notes make things more confusing as your priorities can get jumbled during the constant flux of adapting gameplay conditions. Things would be a lot easier if there was some sort of tracker that let you keep a heads up specific party composition with card assignments. Then you could know exactly who has what cards, what cards you need to lock to ensure you have enough when certain characters are partied up, and which characters are most frequently used for certain party compositions to decide how tokens and materials will be most efficiently spent.

It is clearly not going to happen because it is far too much work to make and maintain for a small QoL improvement, but it would definitely make life easier for me if someone else was autistic enough to invest the time into it.

Barrier breaking has been straight-forward so far except for the 23F with that stupid healer mob that's only weak to Wood. Sooner or later you will end up with Tei and, eventually Shizuha, whom Medicine can't break. For the main story levels, if you're trying to optimize grind then you only want 1 wave boss fights. Yukari and Red Marisa are the final bosses of their respective chapters, and are the last fight in Ch.1 and Ch.2 Act 2 so you should know where they are.

The only other worthwhile main story mission to grind is the one wave Kasen fight from Ch.1, The Freezing Island Pt.3. She drops a shitton of mats.

Bring Ran, and you have two choices of how to use her. The first involves the fact Ran has a higher base Agi than Medi does. As long as you don't use Medi's graze and her Agi isn't buff through Story Card Stats Ran will move first Fire off her LW at Power 1 and she will lay a stack of poison on all enemies. The issue with Ran's Agi is that no matter how much stats you put into it Medi buffs herself with Agi Up+1 for each layer of graze. One layer of Agi Up is applied to her Agi stat mutiplictiviely while every additional layer is applied additively to that initial buff. Unless you counteract it by applying Agi Up to Ran in equal to or greater amounts it will probably not matter how much raw stats you apply unless you are autistic enough to work the exact formula out.

The water tanuki of level 21 has now restored 2 barrier to his team for 10 turns in a row. I thought I was clever by bringing my slightly underleveled Yukari along the Reimu-Sanae core for those Earth breaks before switching for Mokou as usual but this little fucker has decided otherwise.

Slice seems like such a strange choice of translation for that bullet effect. The effect itself makes sense mechanically for Byakuren's SC Heaven Sign: Brilliance of Mahavairocana and LW Angirasa Veda. They are attacks that feature a sudden change in speed representing the mechanic of "More DMG with higher own Agility," or more simply move fast to hit harder. Going by that view of the effect Yuyuko's "Saigyouji Parinirvana" LW also makes sense mechanically because of the way the bullets suddenly accelerate in IN throwing off your timing and becoming more dangerous.

I think the translation was a holdover from when Sakuya and Chen were the only friends in Global that had effect, but they also shared the Slash typing with Myon. The translators must not have ever played the games but figured it thing the spell cards all share in common was "cutting" so they just threw the word Slice on there without any regards to what the effect itself was supposed to represent.

Something like Burst would have been a better translation in my opinion. The word can be understood as a sudden acceleration, but it isn't so narrowly defined as Slice is. You can have a Burst of speed throwing off timing. You can counter attack with a Burst of lasers. Your bullets can suddenly accelerate with a Burst. It is also able to differentiate itself from something like Explosion which was the word used to represent the effect "Higher chance to CRIT with higher target's DEF," as it is more focused where as Explosion, represented mechanically and visually, is just a massive amount of overwhelming force.

Here's an interesting interaction: Sakuya's first spellcard lowers the enemy's evasion by one stage for two turns. Floor 25 Reimu can buff her evasion by five stages for one turn. So if you use Sakuya's first spellcard on her, Reimu will end up having her evasion buffed by four stages for two (2) turns. This lets her buff her evasion to nine stages the next turn, ultimately giving her far more evasion than if you just hadn't used Sakuya's spellcard on her.
Learning more about the buff mechanics in this game has made me appreciate why so many characters have seemingly weak +1 stage to stat for 3 turns passives: It lets you extend the stronger buffs they've gotten from their skills/spellcards.
