It's advisable, since preboss is also a combined fleet. It's also much nastier during LD when the CVLs go from elite to flagship along with an increase in fighter power. You'll most likely get AP there instead of AS, so no daytime DA for your ships. I finally got to the boss and got s rank on my first try. I didn't watch because I had to get ready to go to the dentist but I started with bep and john on orange and takao on yellow, got to night battle like this with only half dead boss left, and then suzuya smacked him for 27+308. not sure if it's actually this easy or if I just used all my luck needed for later up.

Whole day of ramming my face against E4, finally gave up and went down to Medium.
On Hard, my ships are made of wet noodles and fall straight to taiha the moment a single torpedo from a submarine hits. Or a single bomber in an air node gets through and explodes them. Or a surface ship fires a single shot and to taiha they go.
On Medium, sub torps only do glancing hits at best, no need for any kind of support expedition, air nodes are harmless, surface fleets barely chip paint off.

How important is luck for proccing touch? Nelson has 28 luck and pretty good rate for touch, Nagato has 40 luck and also good rate but Mutsu has16 luck and just keep failing even at 2nd shelling.
I am kinda considering using 5 or 10 maruyu for her at this point.
