Why is Fate more popular than Tsukihime? The main content(stay night) is paced so poorly there's memes about a cooking route.

>The main content(stay night) is paced so poorly
It's not. That's just ADHD kids that have trouble reading. Anyways, Fate is obviously more popular because it was a full on proper game (that later got voice acting) and not a cult classic doujin game.

I don't think the pacing is so bad once you get past Shiro's part of the intro, though HF does have the worst pacing out of the 3 routes. That said, bad pacing isn't as detrimental to a story as other aspects like characters, plot, and setting. People love Clannad for example, and that has possibly the worst pacing I've seen for any VN. So many frivolous routes.
In any case, Fate is more popular than Tsuki simply because action is more popular than psych horror.

Those who complain about spending time with the charcters during down time are idiots, though I do agree that the pacing can get pretty slow with nothing much happening during the days. Fate is more appealing in a shounen/action way and the higher production values make it more appealing to a broader audience. It’s also more unique than Tsukihime and Saber’s design is iconic that made people want to play/watch Fate.

So I've been with this wish of trying to understand the "logic" behind some spelling choices of western names on Type Moon works.
Some names, like Altria, are easy to understand because the character already links to the source, but some names don't, because they are probably made up from what people at TM research, like a anachronic combination of different proto-european radicals.
Is there any extensive analysis, even on hypothetical level, of TM westernish names?
Like for example, Brunestud, which actually have some etmologic roots on anglo and german radicals that could give some clarity as to what possibly Nasu was thinking it sould mean, probably with the brunner/brenner/brun roots with a more specific and old use of 'stud' (which doesn't necessarily is limited to the meaning of hot guy, but also means 'royal breed').
Anyway, if there is no previous work, how about we try do one?

And that one dude from reddit deleted his account after bragging about how he's translating KnK ever since December...

Should I bite the bullet and read Cokesakto's translation? I get that they added pointless filler to the text, but did they actually change anything significant? Or just get verbose for no reason?

Here's the translation from DeepL:

>The city was experiencing its first heavy snowfall in four years.

>The snow that falls in March is so cold that it freezes the season.

>The white crystals did not stop falling at night, and the city was dead as if in an ice age.

>It was midnight.

>There are no people on the streets, only the light from the street lamps resisting the veil of snow.

>In the darkness, which should have been dark but was now white, he decided to go for a walk.

>He didn't have any particular purpose in mind.

>He just had a premonition, so he walked to the place.

>Holding a black umbrella, he walked through the falling snow.

>And there she was, standing there.

>Just like the day four years ago.

>In the empty white night, the girl in the kimono was staring blankly into the darkness.

>He called out casually, "Hello," just as he had done four years ago.

>The girl in the kimono turned around and smiled at him.

>"It's been a long time, Kurogiri-kun."

>The strange girl had a soft smile on her face, as if she had known him for a long time.

>> No.35071112

>>35071080
Meanwhile, Cokesakto's translation is:

>At the moment, the city is knee deep into the worst snow it’s had in four years, and to make matters worse, it’s falling in March. The volume of the snow is so thick, and the temperature so low, that no one at all would be surprised to see the entire city frozen in place. Even at nights, the white spots drift down onto the roofs and streets in a languid pattern, showing no signs of abating, like the sky is determined to drown it in a new ice age.
Tonight, at midnight, is one such frigid night.
Not even the shadow of a person can be sighted on the streets tonight, and the unceasing white veil of the snow is permeated only by the illumination of street lights. It should be dark, but even the darkness can’t resist being tainted by the gathering white. In that scene of contrasts can be seen one boy, strolling through the late hours. He has no particular purpose in mind. Something called him out here, a premonition that promised something in a place so familiar.
He walks casually, as if time didn’t truly matter, holding aloft his black umbrella as he presses his way through the thick snowfall. And at last, he finally chances upon the girl, standing there, just as she did four years ago. Dressed in her kimono in the midst of the desolate white night, the girl stares blankly at the void. And like four years ago, the boy calls out to her in a voice at ease.
“Hey.”
The girl in the kimono turns slowly to glance over her shoulder, and smiles sweetly.
“Good evening, Kokutō. It has been quite a while now, hasn’t it?” asks the strange girl, Shiki Ryōgi, as the gentle smile on her lips speaks of a past where he had known the boy so long ago. The voice, however, is cordial, not intimate.

For the record, the VNs aniplex has funded so far have been released on Steam in English, but I'm pretty sure if the remake was going to be released in English, it would have been announced by now or at least at about the same time Melty Blood was announced for English.

Check the Type-Moon VNs here, if you make an account you can even add the vocab from the games to a deck.
Personally I'm preparing for both Mahoutsukai and Tsukihime, My recomendation grammar when reading knowing the grammar will carry you quite a bit.
If you read at your own pace, checking for vocab while reading, taking notes etc etc, even if it takes you 5 times more than reading normally, then its all gold.
So if you're interested in reading T-M stuff, simply pick some random quotes or something and start dipping your toes in the act.

>Sakura doesn't seem to be that high in Nasu list either
Dude wrote Extra CCC because he was salty that Sakura wasn't popular. Come on now.
It's not even a secret that he wants her to be the most "correct" choice in the eyes of the fanbase.
>Exhibit A
Despite adding a new ending to Realta Nua, they kept the Tiger Dojo line where Taiga calls HF True the "True Ending of Fate/Stay Night".
>Exhibit B
This interview:
>I really wanted to make it a work that would make the users want to get to know Saber and Rin better, or cuddle with Sakura. Saber and Rin respresent the fun and sweetness of romance. But I wanted to express the tragic nature of love with Sakura.
You were never supposed to want to cuddle with Rin or Saber apparently. Just Sakura.
>Exhibit C
Calls HF: "an yet higher level of entertainment".
>Exhibit D
Zelretch showing up in a timeline makes it more true than others. Hence him showing up in Heaven's Feel and directly interfering to help Rin out.
>Exhibit E
Despite seeing the Fate Route as a failure, he never tried to fix it whatsoever. Even wanted Zero to bully Saber instead. On the other hand, he wrote CCC trying to improve Sakura's reputation.

Dude's transparent as hell. Whatever he might say, those aren't the actions of a person who doesn't see Sakura as the absolute best. Plus, Heaven's Feel makes Fate and UBW look like dogshit in comparison. Both in the novel, as well as in adaptations.

There's a lot you lose from not adapting the Fate route, but I always thought it was strange that the recent adaptations never touched on exactly what projection is despite it's focus in UBW and being fairly easy to explain.

What? Nothing is retconned. It's just a short novel about Seiba when she becomes king.

Speaking of that, can Shirou and Archer trace other things besides swords/weapons? iirc Shirou can project appliances and shit and that's how Rin found out that his projections weren't disappearing, but they were hollow or something. If so, can Shirou and Archer trace money?

>Shirou can only project things that are related to weapons in some way—or more specifically, swords. Modern weapons are off limits. …Well, technically he can pull out shields or armor, too, if he strains himself to his utmost limits, but the effects only last for an instant and the cost is enormous.
Also, on Rho Aias:
>It is the only defensive armament Archer can use proficiently.

Yeah, I forgot about that. It was supposed to be some high tech fishing rod or something.

>Baka-Tsuki translation
This one also has multiple translation errors. Mikiya was not walking "woodenly". The entire 押し花 line is wrong. Calling the face "featureless" is wrong and misses the point of Nasu being chuuni and using 亡い instead of 無い. You know it's pretty bad when nobody can even do the goddamn introduction correctly.

>> No.35096888

>>35096618
Maybe the rod's a 'failure' like the stuff Shirou had in the storehouse, but it's probably just that Archer is much better at projecting. It sounds like anything non-sword based takes way more effort though.

>> No.35097016

>>35096886
A lot of the chuuniness of KnK is in the prose and dialogue, more so than anything else Nasu's written, so it sucks to see it turned into such dry, clunky English.

>> No.35097069

>>35097016
Yeah to be quite fair, KnK would be pure hell to translate correctly. I wouldn't even know how to begin to convey Shiki's differing speech styles in English.

Fishing rods are kinda like swords

>> No.35097456

>>35096444
I dont think its fair to classify a regular fishing rod alongside his other projections that are magical weapons.

A regular mage can make a fishing rod with gradiation air, its like projecting a screwdriver or spoon.
