You don't seem to understand that achievements add a lot to a game for completionists. Let's use another example: There's an achievement in Raiden Fighter Aces for getting 100 million points. Only the absolute best players will be able to get that, so that's a goal I am going to work towards in order to finish the game. In the end, I'll have played the game 10x longer than I would have initially, increased my skills substantially and finished the game off entirely.

Between the 200~ Xbox 360 games I own, I could not buy a new game for many many months if I focused on completing all the ones I have left.

Getting achievements and being better than you IS fun. It's why I primarily play fighting games, even! I love being better than everyone. And when someone better than me comes around, I'll strive to become better than them! Competition is fun.

Maybe to you jumping around and shooting the air and running into enemies as soon as you see them is fun, but that's not fun for me.

And of course you can compare. Player 1 plays through Stage 1 of Dodonpachi, he gets a high score, no deaths, etc. Player 2 plays Stage 1 of Dodonpachi, he dies 3 times in the first 30 seconds and needs to continue.

PLAYER 1 IS BETTER.

I played Prototype I had fun, You played prototype and got all them glowing orbs, I think I had more fun then you collecting all them glowing orbs.

We can change it Crackdown since it sounds similar. You played Crackdown, killed all the mob leaders and saw the ending. I played Crackdown, killed all the mob leaders, collected all the cars, beat every time trial on hard, beat every mission in co-op, collected 500 agility orbs and 200 (?) hidden orbs.

I think I had more fun.

I was going to try and get the plat for prototype just yesterday but then I looked at trophies like "finish the game while consuming under 10 civilians" and was like fuck that shit and shelved it after finishing.

Achievements/etc. should only be for actual things you can do in the game, so idealy when you've "done everything" there is to do in the game you should have all achievements.

Crackdown is an open world game meant for exploration. The orbs are there to reward you for exploring the city. I played the game it was meant to be played, you run around like a doofus running over civilians with a car and jumping into the river.
