well he's kinda generic in Ex and Ul, but in Alt he becomes much better, so maybe he says something different in Alt rewiev.

Also, why was Mitsuki so much better and awesome character in Alt than she was in Kiminozo

Mitsuki ain't that bad in Kiminozo unless you think sleeping with your boyfriend best friend make a bad character.

Well I generally didn't like her that much in kiminzo altough I only watched the anime, so maybe she was better in VN, but in Alt she was one of the better characters. So maybe some of the dislike comes from Bakayuki being so stupid, good thing he died in Alt before the story started.

Muv-Luv as a whole (Extra, Unlimited, Alternative, Final Extra) is my favorite eroge

Easily one of my top 5 favorite games.

Basically, it has some flaws, a bit far-fetched premise (including EX and UL) and a shitty money-milker ending, and on the other hand hours upon hours of total fuckawesomeness. For me, the latter weighs more, but I guess I can sorta see how it wouldn't for some people.

More like best insert song ever. I actually had heard Carry On before playing the game and didn't care about it too much, but when I hit the beginning of episode 10 in the game with that song, I experienced a strange mix of tears and HOLY FUCK. Best scene ever.

Hell, for those that can't read Jap, it's probably worth wading through ATLAS to read it, since it'll never be translated.

>> No.3419714

>>3419711
Reading Alternative is my lifelong dream, so I'm not sure I want to butcher it with ATLAS.

>> No.3419730

>>3419714
The writing quality of Alternative isn't really like that of Swan Song or Cross Channel, in that it isn't such an absolutely crucial part of the game's "atmosphere".

For myself, Alternative was actually the third VN I read in Japanese without any automatic translation aids like Atlas (first two being Yosuga no Sora and the original Muv-Luv). Basically, I had to look up a lot of physics and other technical stuff on the dictionary while playing, but I don't really think it "butchered" the game for me. There was only one part in the game that completely went over me (the long ass dialogue with Meiya in chapter 6... which reminds me, I should probably replay this game at some point. If only it wasn't so fucking long, I'd start right now)

>> No.3419912

I am playing it right now, actually. Muv Luv was kind of... average so I didn't really have any expectations for Alternative but it's ok so far. I'm assuming it gets better of course. It's still pretty amusing right now though(much better than Bore Luv, the first 2 games)

It's kind of annoying how it'll be interesting for a while but then it'll interrupt the interesting parts with these boring long winded talks with the heroines. Honestly, the heroines(with the exception of Sumika) are the worst characters in the game and whenever they get involved the game tends to take a dive in quality and entertainment. Maybe that's why Alternative has been a lot better so far, there's a lot less focus on them. I really hope it kind of continues in that vein. Also, some of the topics they try to bring up now and then and drone on about like patriotism, war, country politics... I mean does anyone really give a shit, the game would be better if they cut down on that stuff.

I'm only in the middle of chapter 6 though(I think it's 6, where you rescue, you know who. Might be chapter 5)

Any reason why girls will hate Muv Luv Alt?

Not feminist enough for them? I see lots of strong willed heroines so it should be right up their alley.

>> No.3421976

Favorite eroge of mine, and I don't even like mecha. Yes, it not perfect, some things are nonsensical and shocking but overall, it's a great game.

Much better than Baldr Sky but that's just my personal opinion.

>> No.3422067

>>3421976
Although I agree that MuvLuv Alt has better storyline, it's a bit unfair to judge yet since Baldr Sky isn't finished.
It would be like comparing it to Unlimited part of the first MuvLuv.

Also, the gamer inside of me finds fondness to Baldr.
Beating the fuck out of hundreds of mechs in action game is more satisfying than hitting the space or return button over and over to read a glorified novel.

>> No.3422664

I kind of prefer hitting space when I'm going for a new route, than to kill the same mechas again and again.

But I guess if the game actually was completely linear I wouldn't mind the more action oriented games.

>> No.3422679

No, seriously, people that don't like Muv-Luv Alt. must be GAY.

>> No.3422681

>>3422664
If we're talking about multi-path games,
Beating the same mechs with more upgraded pwnage is more fun than clicking through the mostly same text, trying to figure out which part has been read or not.

>> No.3423553

I don't really get why some people don't like the linearity of Alternative. In my opinion, the concept of the game wouldn't fit very well at all with multiple routes, each explaining parts of what happens in the universe. It would've been a lot worse that way.

>> No.3423722

>>3423553
Well, what I had hoped for is to go through the entire game... and then have an option to play it again, but this time, it splits off in route.

Like, retain the memory and start again.
Now you know how to save some of the characters, and perhaps make a more effecient dicision.

Basically a type of "True route only appears after trying many" games.

>> No.3424017

>>3423722
Sometimes you have to sacrifice flexibility (routes) to make a good story. 2 games that played that had those "reset" continues are Badlr Sky and Sumaga. The consistency of both games are horrible. Just because you chose to go to "place A" instead of "place B", the character's thoughts, feelings and sometimes even their personality changes. Shit sucks if you want to weave a great story in my opinion.

And MuvLuv has some kind of implied true end after a lot of tries. It's just it's more player side than game side. Normally, you clear all the routes in a game so every time you read a new route, you're "resetting" the game.

>> No.3424027

Game wouldn't be as awesome if you could save them. And if he retained his memories there wouldn't be any point in doing it all again as Kasumi could just confirm everything he says.

>> No.3424053

>>3424017
Yes, I know.
But like I said, as a "GAMER" I find more joy in the illusion of having the control to myself, not just reading it implied.
Meaning, Muvluv Alternative is a good read, as a novel.
But I wish it was a GAME.

>> No.3426284

on matter of bying, anyone know if âge are planning on releasing muv-luv bundle that would contain all the games (both main games and fandisks) as I'm tinking of bying them, but I'd rather not buy them all seperately as that would be rather costly.
