What about the dials? Do you just a left and right key for each dial? I'm already a pretty experienced 4k player and I'm looking for something new so no dials kind of takes the appeal away for me. I just don't know if I'm willing to invest $250 in an actual controller.

>> No.33388661 [DELETED]

Yes. That's the one downside. But you get much more comfortable spacing compared to something as cramped as the Pocket Voltex, so it's up to you what's more important. It's hard to beat "free and permanently in stock" though.
Playing on keyboard for a few months should still be enough for you to know whether or not a controller is worth it. If you do end up trying it, just put 1 or 2 keys between each BT button and try to mimic the controller layout as much as you can.
Something that's effectively 10k will be plenty new for you, and this will also give you a taste of one-handing charts unlike a traditional keyboard setup.

kshootmania only supports landscape mode from what I remember, which means that if you have a vertical monitor you will not be able to use it with ksm. unnamed sound voltex clone runs much better, supports vertical monitors and has some insane customization, there's this one heavenly haven skin which looks better than data. As >>33388805 explains tho, there's some gay motion blur thing on the notes which makes it very difficult to read if you're used to data/arcade, and vice versa if you're used to USC you will have a hard time getting into data. I also play on a mechanical keyboard, and I literally can't play USC bcos I've been playing on vivid wave data for a long time. Also the laser timing feels really off when playing USC.
I'd recommend to just setup vw data, unless you are planning of streaming/uploading your plays on yt, then download USC + song packs + skins.

Since we are on the topic of streaming, what risks would a literal who run for streaming data on twitch/yt? Is there an army of konami lawyers ready to sue any retard that tries to, or would it only be a problem for a bigger youtuber?

>> No.33403105

VOD or at worst channel deleted (seems unlikely), and some angry comments. But the most noteworthy risk is being banned from data networks if they find out who you are.
Some people used to stalk the Bemani game categories on Twitch, but there's more legit cab and Cloud/Infinitas streams now to blend in with if you really feel like testing your luck.
If you just want to stream for friends, do it unlisted on Youtube.

just bought a stock svse5 a few months ago, is there any way to dampen the ringing sound the buttons make? pressing to actuation is just a tiny click, bottoming out is just plastic on plastic clacking that i can just control myself, but if you press and let go really quickly there is a really loud spring bounce/metal ringing sound. i don't know the anatomy of these buttons so i don't know where to begin (new switch? change spring??). the start and fx buttons don't have problem at all but just pressing and releasing fxL really quickly rings all 4 bt buttons. i've played on a normal cab a few time and i've never heard this noise before.

>> No.33511093

It's probably just that. The springs. All 4 BT making the sound because of one button doesn't seem right.
Best you can hope for is to re-seat them and/or buy heavier springs. You're always gonna have a slight ringing in some of the buttons though unless you exercise autism to make sure they sit perfectly.

>All 4 BT making the sound because of one button doesn't seem right
maybe the way i was reproducing the ringing was a bit extreme. to test consistent ringing i just bottom out and slide my finger off a button. doing this on the bt reproduce a sound i normally get when panicking while playing but the fx keys don't ever produce ringing on the bt keys during my normal gameplay. something is probably loose inside. i'll double check to make sure everything is sitting properly inside like you said but it's good to know some ringing is normal.

just took apart the bt buttons. the springs have so much wiggle room that they just ring, one of the springs is particularly skinnier than the others (but we're talking less than 0.2mm here and i don't have calipers or anything to measure). i haven't found a clean solution for this but wrapping the spring in a cut piece of paper towel and cramming that back together completely stopped the ringing and i can't feel much of a difference in pressing it. it's probably worth buying fabric that won't disintegrate after a few hours though. i wonder if the dao guy would even care if i complain in an email.

how do I get good at DJ Mass MAD charts? I can pass the 7s really easily, there is not a single 8 from him nor there's anything similar inside the 8 folder other than maybe Theory, and all the 9s kick my ass pretty badly except for digitank system on which I can kind of do something, but still fail.
I hate how I can't play any of his songs at a higher level, they're amazing but I can't fucking scratch and can't find a way to learn how to.

Seconding "Starter pack of stamina", it's really good and 100% on your level. Slowstreamz won't have that many songs on your level, if I recall correctly. There are a few other stamina packs that also has individual charts on your level (Joy of Streaming, Enjoy Stamina Pack, Eurobeat is Fantastic), but there'll be like 1 or 2 songs in each pack for you, so don't expect too much.
You may also want to check out Crossover Spectrum Part I B, if you want to practice crossovers. It will probably be on the difficult side, but you'll get there eventually and it'll be very useful when you decide to grind XOs into your muscle memory. Part I A and Part II & III are all (very) difficulty, so ignore them for now.

Do you like typical /jp/ things (Touhou, Vocaloid, Kancolle, Idolmaster)? If so, check out the packs by Gpop:
https://www.stepmania.com/forums/song-packs/show/5528
Anything newer than and including Vocaloid Pad Pack 2 is good. All packs have all difficulties, so there'll likely be a chart on your level for every song. They are good all-around packs with hundreds of songs with fairly consistent difficulty ratings.

I wish /jp/ was more into stepcharting. We tried to do a pack once, but it was mostly keyboard stuff and that nothing came out of it in the end.
