Oh! Okay, I was just misunderstanding. To me, a 'bad heartbreak' would be if despite everything you've done towards the opposite, X dies. The story was still amazing, but nothing the main character did ended up helping.

Good heartbreak is things like the two I mentioned, or when the main character dies in so completely, massively badass a fashion that you would be screaming 'FUCK YEAH' if he weren't dead. Think (SAO spoiler) Munsu, from Shin Angyo Onshi. The same series also has an example of what I call 'bad heartbreak', when Sando spends all Munsu's sleepy-time training to be stronger so she can be by his side again, but that training brainwashes her and she cuts off his arm immediately before the afore-mentioned climactic moment of badass. And he was going to die in a few minutes anyway, so I guess it isn't as bad as it could've been... I still cried bitch tears.

For some reason, Jewish women in America love Mahjong, but they play by a very bizarre set of rules in which the chow is forbidden, and there is an annual "mahjong card" containing a list of all the year's valid hands. There are no standard generic hands in Jewish-American mahjong. Also, JA Mahjong uses flowers/seasons as part of the hand (they're not discarded and replaced), and there are 8 joker tiles, making for a staggering 152 tiles in a JA set. JA Mahjong is closer to a bingo-style game than real mahjong, because with a specific list of valid hands, it's really more about luck than building a skillful hand.

It's still /a/ related, which is my point.

Don't worry, you still get your psuedo-rape.
Karin is one of those series that turns a generic idea (vampires) into something good (girl is a reverse vampire that injects blood instead of sucking it and spouts blood because her body produces too much of it).

So, by being generic yet at the same time original, it turns awesome.

Kind of like Busou Renkin with Papillion. Karin really reminds me a lot of Busou Renkin for some reason.

More like turns out less shitty then you'd expect but still not very good.

On the subject of Tokyopop, one of the guys who used to work for them is now doing a series in Japan. It's second volume came out last month.

Pic related, it's the guy.

It really depends on if you like romantic comedies. If you don't, then yeah, it's gonna be kinda shit. Best stick to your action or whatever else you enjoy reading/watching.

If you don't hate them or even like them, then you will love Karin. I still reread this manga once in awhile. Especially volume 7 because it's one of the few things that makes me feel all gushy inside.

That's the guy who did MBQ, isn't it? I actually read the first volume of that at my BN. It's shit. (but the art was nice)

Yeah, it's him. The first volume of that series has been translated into Japanese, too.

If you compare it to other endings though, this series doesn't have a crappy ending. In fact this is one of the better endings that I've read.
It's not one of those series that once you finish reading you close the book and take a deep sigh, but a gradual ending.
I think it's wrapped up decently.

Like your childhood friend, obsessed with taking care of you, dying and becoming a cute zombie that tries to feed you her rotting brains so a part of her will live on in you.

Of course that'll end with you stealing her saliva, injecting it to yourself and joining her in undeath make a couple.

There still isn't that many decent vampire manga out there. Karin was nice for all of the reasons you listed. Actually, I finished it over the weekend due to this thread! I think I stopped reading it 4-5 years ago whenever the anime aired.

That mangaka seems to love female main characters that have strange quirks. I started reading her latest Aion series and it seems to be more of the same (which isn't bad I guess).

Pic sorta related, it's a nice vampire 4koma; the main character is an odd one like Karin. I'll probably end up scanning it eventually.

How is it /jp/ related? Manga or how American publishers handle manga, is not /jp/ related.

Even touhou isnt ''really'' /jp/ related (Yes I know that it was one of the reasons for /jp/:s creation)

No. It isn't. See, there is a board for things involving anime and manga. This thread is about manga. It goes on /a/, not /jp/.

You're being pretty damn disingenuous here but I see your point. I didn't know this thing was a victim of butchering by American publishers, anyway.
