This creature justifies its own existence by the end of others. It sees compassion and human qualities as weakness. The sum result of its existence is being a serial killer.

tl;dr

Shiki's "Nanaya" side is his assassination training and bloodline, while the Nanaya Nightmare is what Shiki dreaded he could become.

Shiki was trained like all Nanayas. You can't be in good health and not train. Kiri didn't leave the organization, as he still lived in the Nanaya village. He changed after Shiki was born and stopped being such an active assassin, though. He still lead the Nanayas, and was their most powerful fighter, and was still capable of fighting Kouma on his own terms.

"Nanaya" Shiki is the purest form of Shiki. Everything else is what built up while living with the Tohnos, losing his life, and coming back to life to live another one.

Nanaya is the calm side that can kill and survive, "Tohno" is the side that understands killing is wrong and there's more to life than that. Together, they're the Shiki that can sit under the Eclipse and tell Aoko that life is worth living, no matter how long you have left or what has happened to you.
