Best I can come up with is that you may be leaving yourself open too often and/or not capitalizing often enough when I leave myself open.

So far as the whole combo thing goes, it's not that difficult. You don't need to learn every combo on the wiki, just the ones most important to your character that you feel you can pull off regularly. The easiest ones you can use with Marisa are 5AAA 5B 214B for midscreen/corner and j.A j.6A 6C for air. Not so difficult, eh?

Use fireworks to cover melee and defense. Always.
C is the "if you try to melee me I'm going to rape your face" button.
Aircombo is j.5A j.6A 6B 6C.
Use 66C whenever you see an opening; get her alt. 236 "overhead fireball" skillcard and use that after a blocked loliball to give you more distance.
Dial-A can work but ultimately it's better to just do 5AA 236B/C and cover yourself with 5C or 2C after knockdown, since it's wide enough to force them into blocking if they groundtech or not.

Also get her 22C command grab skillcard (the one that looks like a black hole with Suika in the middle) and spam the crap out of it if you ever get an opponent who likes to block a lot in the corner because it's unblockable, but has a long enough startup that they'll knock you out of it if they realize it quickly enough. That thing will save your ass constantly in low-level play because beginners rarely look for openings when they're in the corner.

Just unlocked Iku's new 22B/C (too lazy to use the 4 of everything save file) and it seems... weird. Is it useful? I thing I got a nice damage with the C version when I aimed it properly and all (possible) hits connected, but... I simply can't use Iku without her Disco Lightning.

I might try to netplay some day again, but I tend to lag horribly. Still, the (lagging) matches I had with a Nipah guy were awesome.

A good player is NOT going to fall for alt. 22B/C in the corner unless it's during Typhoon, and while >>3250691 suggested 623B after a blocked loliball I suggested alt. 236B/C solely because of my experiences with experienced players -- once they block a loliball, you're going to have enough opportunity to follow it up that they're going to keep blocking if they know what they're doing.
A novice wouldn't block after blocking a loliball because they'd try to punish it, making 623 useful because it punishes their punishment. If they keep blocking and you 623, you're more punishable than you could've possibly been if you didn't; alt. 236 has enough pushback to get you a safe distance away whether they block or not.

tl;dr even if I had a tournament-winning strategy, I wouldn't be telling it to somebody who announced they're just starting out because they need to ease into the character first.

All her pressure strings that I run in Soku were possible in SWR, it's just that Reisen didn't really have anything else going for her. Now she's got invisibility(and in spellcard form, jesus christ), better bullets and spells, and 5k spellcard damage easy anywhere on the screen. I think she's pretty strong in Soku. But uh, it doesn't feel too good when you just give up pressing anything. I'd take a ragequit midcombo over that.

With Soku's release, there has ben a wave of new players, both good and bad. We just want to play against different people once in a while, and some of the players on /jp/ are actually quite decent.
In fact, I'm fairly certain the vast majority of the "IRC faggots descending on /jp/" are former SWR netplay thread regulars on /jp/ from back when SWR came out and we had regular threads. Only some anons stopped playing, others didn't. Since there weren't anymore players to play on /jp/, we went to mizuumi. And now that the threads are back, we come back.

The thing is, I didn't sandbag him at all. I always play someone the first match assuming that they can completely destroy everything I do, and go from there. If I go into a random match and the other thinks I'm an idiot and/or sandbags me in return, that's a pretty harsh insult in my book. Yeah, sorry about that. It's partly the kind of player I am, but also my unfamiliarity with Marisa (second day of playing her), and also not knowing what Yukari can do.

Personally, those matches kept me on the edge of my toes since getting hit by any stray 66C meant I'd be eating the train next.

It doesn't work so well against Yukari(rather, it doesn't work at all) because she actually teleports to the spot, but for EVERY other character, I:
1. Don't have to guess where they'll tech, and I can be there when they get up.
2. If they don't tech and high jump out, I get to counter hit them for free.
3. If I'm already close by when they tech to me, I can move back and forth on the spot they'll be at for ambiguous crossups.
4. If they don't tech, and try to attack me with a 66A/B/C when they get up, I can just fly around back and whack them again, for free.

I only really run it with Yukari because her pressure is more disgusting than Reisen's, but again, I can't actually pull it off correctly with whatever amount of delay we had.

Your Alice is monstrous, which may just be my inexperience speaking because supposedly all the Alice players are in IRC, but I hardly see a lot and when I do they rape me seventy ways over because I'm not used to all the shit she can do. Not to mention, Cirno's stubby limbs can't even TOUCH her. Goddamn. But when I played Reisen against her one of the matches got so intense I think I broke skin at some point.
