The entire game is in Battler's head. Battler was Beatrice, and the entire game was his own madness attempting to kill him. He intentionally created an endless paradox that cannot be resolved.

Lambda and Bern are actually the staff in his asylum, and their participation inside his head is warped.

There were no murders at Rokkenjima, Kinzo split the money evenly amongst everyone, even the servants cause he's a swell guy.

Bern and Lamba are actually just trying to con him out of his inheritance money at the asylum he's in.
