I'll be honest, started coming here because of hololive and the hlg thread was a fucking mess by 3rd quarter 2020. Then you throw in hlgg, one of the hololive members appealing to reddit for shitposts, other vtubing companies on the rise and it was clear that this was eventually going to happen. The content for hololive itself kind of encourages that type of posting. There's a group of hundreds of people in the thread all watching the same handful of streams at any given time and reacting to it live. The. When that stream is done you can just move onto the next one and repeat. There really isn't a great deal to post about outside of streams so during the times there are none on the thread is usually just fueled shitposting with gossip and rumour about the talents, the people behind the avatars and their relationships to each other and dick measuring about which girl is making the most money or viewers.

It's better to continue our discussions regardless, than to allow them to have carte blanche with the board as a whole; if that would happen then the entire board really would be beyond saving. I've seen threads survive well in the face of this issue. They may be slow threads, but it's worth it for the discussions we engage in, and the effect it has on the board as a whole.

I do hope the issue is eventually resolved though.

It's weird, because I don't have such a problem with people getting attached to fictional persons, even when they're played by actors, and actors too do it for cash.
