While the Chinese make countless RTSes based on their Three Kingdoms period, The Japanese didn't make a single RTS based on their Sengoku period.

In fact I have never heard of decent Japan-made PC games that don't revolve around fantasy RPGs, car simulators or VNs.

Come on Japan I know your creative juices are begging for something else for a change!

I can't think of any Asian RTS offhand, actually. Anyone have some recommendations? Do they actually exist

Now turn based, they have a fucklot of those.

>> No.3174955

Japs aren't big on the whole RTS thing though. They are all about action games. They have Rance though, so whatever.

What's there to make about Sengoku?

Tech 1 - Samurai
Tech 2 - Arquebus Samurai
Tech 3 - LOL DUTCH IN UR BASE EXPLODIN UR CASTLE

And besides all factions are the fucking same. Any unique units or strategies they had were quickly copied by everyone else.

Shogun: Total War was pretty diverse.

She'd love to prove how wrong you are, OP.

Turn based is superior, anyway.

She can't though. Rance is TBS with a strong rpg elements.

You talking about Sengoku Rance?

Uesugi Kenshin was a woman.

I can think of several examples.

The Nobunaga Clan can research the unique tech Circling Volleys that gives gunpowder units 50% faster rate of fire.

The Tokugawa Clan can research Subversion which gives Shinobi the ability to bribe groups of soldiers at a time.

etc.

There was a PC RPG that was similar to Age of Empires, but in an Asian setting, used to love it when I was younger. Can't remember the name, but I did re-download it awhile ago and played for a bit, not as good as I remembered.

You mean the one that had troopers using gliders to circumvent castle walls?

Just checked my external, it was Fate of the Dragon. I should probably give it another chance and actually play through the tutorial before quitting the third time around.

If you want variety you can include Chinese and Koreans too.

Ever hear of Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Nobunaga's Ambition? Koei actually makes top tier strategy games outside of their shitty Dynasty Warriors series.

>> No.3175104

>>3175087
I wouldn't say they are top tier though - for one, RM3TK usually changes very little per iteration, ala Dynasty Warriors

>> No.3175116

Well, not really top tier, but pretty damn good.

I thought Koei is a China-based company.

There's Starcraft which is Corean.

The actual strategic challenge isn't exactly the greatest, but as far as historical simulation goes, I've yet to see any other game that puts as much effort into being as anally historically accurate as those games. Victoria comes pretty close, though.

Koei is Japanese. You're probably assuming they were Chinese because they only ever release Romance of the Three Kingdoms related games outside of Asia.
They're so Japanese, they actually started out making erogames for the PC98 before making the first Nobunaga's Ambition game.
