I find the problem with most people is that their impression of History is what is shoved down their throats in middle and high school classes, without actually delving into any interesting information.

The key is to pinpoint an area of history that interests you (political, economic, military, etc.) and a time period that you also find to be interesting, and then narrow down your specifications even further until you're researching essentially one or two people or events. From there, you can slowly broaden your scope as you take in more and more information that pertains to your area of interest, until you get to the point where you're getting more information on extraneous information, and suddenly you know a whole hell of a lot more about a given time period than you ever thought you would.

At least, that's my take on it.

The prevalence of salarymen in Japanese society has given birth to many depictions by the media and various cartoons. The following are stereotypical images of the salaryman:

* Lifestyle revolves entirely around work at the office.
* Works over-time on a daily basis.
* Diligent but unoriginal.
* Thoroughly obedient to orders from the higher levels of the company.
* Feels a strong emotional bond with co-workers.
* Drinking, golf, and mahjong are the three main social activities that provide stimulation outside of work.

An interesting recent phenomenon is the otaku salaryman, sometimes called otariiman (オタリーマン?). The 2000s has seen the rise of this type of salaryman, who appears perfectly ordinary at work, but is actually an intense otaku in his private life. It is currently not uncommon for salarymen to have a wide range of hobbies, but the “otaku as salaryman” is still treated as a relatively new entity in Japanese culture.

One manga that addresses this is Boku, Otariiman (ぼく、オタリーマン。, “I, Otariiman”?), which features such a character.[3]

Cure your depression with exercise and therapy (if you are a poorfag then just do the former). Yes, you have depression. Most people don't realize they have it.

Pursue something that you are truly passionate about. No, not those that your mommy and daddy told you to. You have to find that out for yourself.

Get a study partner. Someone who is on the same level of intellect and interest on you. He will coach you up in times when your discipline falls behind.

And lastly, throw away those beer, candy, pizzas and a bunch of other junk foods and drinks that mess up your brain's chemical balance and destroy your ability to concentrate. Eat proper foods - they are both cheap and nutritious.

>Math major
Anyone who is a math major, know that you have a special brain disorder like autism or something.

It is just some rote memorizing of 500million rules and even more special cases. That shit is boring to normal people and most of it does not easily make sense when you actually apply it.

Both you and math teachers, the only thing a math major can do, are living in your own special subset of nerdworld, that special world that keep nerds from being able to relate to others;
That is, just how nerds live in their superior world where computers come easy to them and rage at people who can't even understand the simplest techology, you assume it is that easy to grasp a bunch of stuff that no normal person/nerd would have a reason to even know. I can't even think of a time where I was like "OH SHIT I REALLY HAVE TO FIND THE VOLUME OF THIS JAR USING CALCULUS"

Even science makes more logical sense. You measure something, THEN you do hard math on it. You don't just throw arbitrary hypothetical numbers into other hypothetical numbers.

I'm not saying math isn't necessary, but I am saying math majors are special. Not the good kind of special. Not everyone jacks off to multiplying matrices, so don't go thinking everyone's mind work like yours does.

Everyone says you should spend this enormous time studying, but I don't. My studying time depends on complexity of the material and time left before the next exam.
Typical night is maybe one to two hours studying on a 17 hour course load. Night on the week of an exam is maybe double that, and night before an exam itself is an eight hour study session and early bedtime.
It works for me, but that doesn't mean it will work for other people. We all learn differently.

Who cares what you approve of? You obviously don't have any sense of what it means to work, you're just basing your opinions on what you think you know and your general laziness. You exhaust yourself standing in the same position all day and, from time to time, mopping, restocking, and dealing with drunk old Japanese men in business suits (which can be quite the asshats). After that, you're alone, no one to come home to and your communication skills suck too much to make any changes to it even if you wanted to. You can never become one of "them," because you're different. You realize you are wasting your time and you want to go home. 9 people in total isn't enough to make a room feel crowded to me, and there's usually one or two people missing, so it's alright, as long as I sit a couple of seats away from the only person who smokes.

Why is the /a/ archive still around anyways? I doubt anybody on the board uses it and there is nothing of value to be archived, anyways. It's on the same level as /v/ and /b/, if not worse. I don't see any point in archiving hundreds of thousands (possibly millions at their speed) of King of Gets posts (along with the dozen rage xD posts by the OP), reaction images, imagebombs and spam, shounen wars, and posts from wandering Gaia/Animesuki friends.

I'd ask to replace it with another board, but the only browsable board left besides /jp/ is /tg/ and they already have their own archive.

Get rid of it, Eksy-sama.

If Eksopl doesn't have the space/bandwidth to host the /a/ archive then I guess he would have no choice but to get rid of it. The only thing I care about is this /jp/ archive. (I wouldn't be able to browse 4chan without it). /a/ at this point is nothing more than nostalgia.

I would prefer mod_perl because it already works (and tested!) and there's no need to change anything in code. For persistent objects declare them as our (this is a working mod_perl script):
#!perl

our $no;
printf <<HERE,$no++ and exit;
Content-type: text/plain

%d
HERE

OO:
Horrible == I'm not used to it?
It's not like you're going to need to write a lot of objects in perl. Since you have hashes, arrays and scalars, there's no need to make objects in your own programs anyway (like you have to write classes in sepples because there's no other way to group data). And if you're writing a package, bless something, it can now use -> operator to call subs from package you blessed it into. That's it. Is it that confusing? I love perl's OO. Look at scheme, you don't even get to have a keyword for creating objects.
