What I'm saying is that the term 'manly tears' trivializes whatever reason they're crying for. If a person is overwhelmed by enough emotion to start crying, then just describe it as crying. 'Manly tears' is just used to downplay things. 'Oh, they're not normal tears, they're manly tears!'
