>> No.2978480

had a cool premise to it and i was enjoying the first couple episodes but delving further into it and into the last episode it was full of a bunch of crap fillers and full episodes that could've been dropped without harming the series at all. The series could have been done in 5 episodes. i get the symbolism of it all but as a whole this was a pretty bad anime that is nothing but disappointing...

Where these crap fillers that you speak of?? It's not a great anime, but it's pretty damn good. From it's visuals, to it's imagery, to it's aesthetics, characterization, and story, it reaches a level that many animes have failed to do. I gave it an 8/10.

It actually did help progress the plot, and it made commentary on the fanboy mentality with anime and video games. It was also a wonderful looking episode, and aesthetically brilliant at times.

>That's when it started to get bad...every episode thereafter added very little to anything storywise...

Actually every episode seemed to get better after the first 5 episodes. It started to peal off it's layers like an onion, and ended up becoming so much more then your typical anime. I didn't really care about the characters, and I felt that they were more like caricatures then actual characters, but I still enjoyed it.

>four women sit and talk about stories they heard about lil slugger...also completely unneccessary

But that's what it's really about. Like Alan Moore's "Watchmen", "Paranoia Agent" is about the people's reaction to Shounen Bat and how it is effecting their daily lives. It's what adds a sense of depth to the story, and gives it alot of emotional weight.

"It actually did help progress the plot, and it made commentary on the fanboy mentality with anime and video games. It was also a wonderful looking episode, and aesthetically brilliant at times."

I got the fanboy attitude when they first started referencing the book and how the kid was so enthusiastic...that's as far as it needs to go. Like writing a book you leave out unneeded details, which is something they should have done in this case. The whole series had great animation but that is secondhand.

"Actually every episode seemed to get better after the first 5 episodes. It started to peal off it's layers like an onion, and ended up becoming so much more then your typical anime."

Ok...that's your opinion. Peeled its layers like an onion? very little "Peeled" as only about a minute or two actually dealt with progressing the story with the rest adding nothing more than more stories about lil slugger in which at this time the viewer had already seen enough...maybe if the stories kept you guessing or adding valuable information at what or who lil slugger is it would have sufficed.

We had been learning how it was affecting people's lives from the first episode. all the episodes were of singular stories of different people and everyone was worried about lil slugger as it was broadcasted everywhere.
Watchmen??? Alan Moore added character depth in New York for the sole purpose of Veidt's Monster. Not to mention the side comic book story that interchangeably resembles the novel itself. Watchmen didn't have average people being affected by anything until the end. It consisted of a set number of characters (heroes) that were affected by the events taking place and contributes to the story with every page.
In Paranoia Agent you completely lose character development with the way it was portrayed (as you said caricatures)and lose sense of story development when you witness repeated viewings of people's intereactions with lil slugger all the while giving barely anything away if nothing at all.

Ai no Senshi:
Re: Cutie Honey and revolutionary love

What power exists that has the capacity to radically transform life? We must have an awareness of such a power, else we tumble into a dead monotony (Nietzsche’s “last man”) or life as a motionless system (Kierkegaard’s “Christendom”). Where can such transformative faculty be found? The answer may perhaps be found in, of all places, a Japanese cartoon show about a girl who fight monsters. Re: Cutie Honey invites us to consider the problem of contrasts between the feminine and the masculine, and through its main character’s revolutionary powers we gain an identification of this transformative element as the phenomenon of love.

>The whole series had great animation but that is secondhand.

Well the visuals, imagery, and aesthetics were very top notch. And the episode wasn't pointless at all, since the series is mostly about the Japanese people and their reactions to Shounen Bat. His existence affected all of their lives in different ways.

>Watchmen??? Alan Moore added character depth in New York for the sole purpose of Veidt's Monster

No, the depth came with the supporting characters. Alot of depth was given to the main characters, but what made it break new ground, was it's focus on the regular folks. They were the main characters, and that's what gave the story it's emotional impact, and realism. "Paranoia Agent" does it a bit different, but it's depth is apparent throughout, because of it's focus on the side characters.

>Ok...that's your opinion.

It's pretty much a fact. Many layers are given the story, and characters in every episode. You either weren't paying attention, or you just didn't like it's approach.

>very little "Peeled" as only about a minute or two actually dealt with progressing the story with the rest adding nothing more than more stories about lil slugger in which at this time the viewer had already seen enough

No, every episode did focus on the story, but mostly dealt with the supporting characters. That's what gave the anime it's depth, and layers. The main story was not important, it was everything else that came into play at the end. And each story is different, and gives very insightful, and amazing moments throughout. That's my opinion, and it's pretty obvious that you weren't moved by it. But the anime never repeated itself.

>maybe if the stories kept you guessing or adding valuable information at what or who lil slugger is it would have sufficed.

It did, you just weren't paying much attention.

>Watchmen didn't have average people being affected by anything until the end.

You obviously haven't read the book at all. All the supporting characters express their views, and reactions to the existence of superheroes. In each chapter, you see how the existence of superheroes have effected the lives of regular citizens both emotionally and psychologically. Kon basically does the same thing in "Paranoia Agent."

>It consisted of a set number of characters (heroes) that were affected by the events taking place and contributes to the story with every page.

Yup, this proves that you didn't read.

>i'm not being one of those people that just says this anime sucks and doesn't give my reasons.

Well you don't give much reasons, and they mostly come off as asinine. Just saying that a couple of episodes are unnecessary without giving much of a reason, pretty much makes your opinion void. I understand why you didn't like the anime, but it seems to be due you're lack of understanding, or you're just simply not open minded enough to appreciate it. Atleast that's what I'm getting out what you're saying.

No, they could have done without many of the side stories about lil slugger victims. they took the focus away from the main characters at that point, fleshed out characters no one cared about, and then never mentioned them again. The themes were already driven in by that point, or fufilled in the conclusion. Honestly, 8 episodes is enough for the story. I think the episodic context was good, it created necessary time gaps between incidents, but it got dragged out imo.

If items of mass one any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it. Of course, that's just the tip of the gravity myth. Think about it. Scientists want us to believe that the sun has a gravitation pull strong enough to keep a planet like neptune or pluto in orbit, but then it's not strong enough to keep the moon in orbit? Why is that? What I believe is going on here is this: These objects in space have yet to receive mans touch, and thus have no sin to weigh them down. This isn't the case for earth, where we see the impact of transfered sin to material objects. The more sin, the heavier something is.

Adams Lake State Park is home to one of the last pockets of prairie habitat in Ohio. The prairies began growing in southern Ohio at the end of the last ice age, due to a warmer and drier climate caused by the Holocene climatic optimum. As the climate cooled down and precipitation increased in more modern times, the prairie plants found refuge in these dry, rocky openings. Native American fires may have also played a role in maintaining this landscape. Plants found in this disjunct area of prairie include purple coneflower, prairie dock, and little bluestem flowers. Adams Lake prairie is a dry, sparsely vegetated area. The only trees in the prairie opening are sporadically occurring red cedar, post oak, blackjack oak and others which can survive the extreme soil conditions.

(Scottish Gaelic: Alasdair MacCoinnich; 1764 - March 12, 1820) was a Scottish-Canadian explorer. Mackenzie was born in Stornoway on the isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. In 1774 his family moved to New York, and then to Montreal in 1776 during the American Revolution. In 1779 he obtained a job with the North West Company, on whose behalf he traveled to Lake Athabasca and founded Fort Chipewyan in 1788. He was sent to replace Peter Pond, a partner in the North West Company. From Pond he learned that the First Nations people understood that the local rivers flowed to the northwest. Acting on this information he set out by canoe and discovered the Mackenzie River on July 10, 1789, following it to its mouth in the hope of finding the Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean. As he ended up reaching the Arctic Ocean, it is conjectured that he named the river "Disappointment River" as it did not lead to Cook Inlet in Alaska as he had expected. The river was later renamed the Mackenzie River in his honour.

Rather than becoming focused singularly on solely preserving the natural beauty of a particular landscape, as had inspired the creation of the U.S. National Park Service in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century, naturalists and environmentalists began to consider the human cost of development as well. The battle followed a frustrating period of six weeks for Wellington. His foray into central Spain in the spring of 1812 had been blocked by Marmont's army. As Wellington advanced, Marmont's strength grew as he received reinforcements. Wellington withdrew as the odds turned against him, with the armies often marching close together and Marmont repeatedly threatening Wellington's supply line. By this day, Wellington had finally decided to withdraw his army all the way back to Portugal. Suddenly, he observed that Marmont had made the tactical error of separating his left flank from his main body. (Wellington's reaction has been differently reported, with little emphasis that both he and Marmont had been looking for an opening for weeks.) He immediately ordered the major part of his army to attack the over-extended French left wing.
