You only have one good BBV (Kai Fusou-class are meh), which might bite you in the ass because ship locks.
I'd get Hyuuga over the two Fusou, her K2 is super good, but that's a bit debatable.
Chikuma is good too but you have all other CAVs.
I can't stress enough how good Yukikaze is at K2 but yes, she's expensive to get.
(If you plan to do event at lower tiers, she can be used to do anything).
You only have one tank so don't need many DDs for the role yet.
Kaga and Akagi are among the best of the entire list, if you have a catapult.
Anyway, hold on your blueprints until you see the event.

If you want a good FBB with torpedo gimmick just pick Bongo and Hiei they are like bisco but with touch gimmick.
If you are completely new i think cranes are good because they open up quests with various good planes. If you don't have flight deck just pick Yuubari, ABKM or maybe NagaMutsu

To be fair some french designs like all the destroyer leaders were questionable. And their best cruiser Algerie was sadly a one off(the rest of their cruisers were questionable 1920s cruisers like the the omahas/Pensacolas/Northamptons etc. and memes like Jeanne D' Arc). So that leaves the Battleships of which only Richelieu was competitive with others. They had more normal and competent destroyer designs like the L'Adroit and le Hardi designs but those sadly get overlooked because brainlets only care about Speed. Heck I would say the Le Hardis are an extremely good design.

They actually are though. They would lose just as hard against NorCal and Sodak classes due to their 280mm guns but against non-Hood battlecruisers even upgraded ones like the Renown class, they would probably pull out the win due to being just as fast and having better armor.
