hey, /jp/. I got a question to ask.
I'm been making a 2d scroller shooter for my portfolio. I'm not planning on selling it, it's gonna be open source.
The question is,
it will probably be okay to make it touhou themed right?
if so, do you think it will be okay for me to use the music from touhou?

Dunno what format ZUN uses, probably something he cooked up while drunk. I wouldn't be suprised if the Japanese fans have managed to reverse-engineer the system, but I don't know nearly enough of the language to ask about it.

(Note to self: Run Touhou through debugger; reverse engineer danmaku.)

I recall hearing someone say ZUN said doujin groups are a) not allowed to use any of his sprites, b) not allowed to use any of his music, and c) not allowed to make a big splash.

The last one is very important, he doesn't want people getting discouraged by the bigger/professional projects.

You should use the fan created remix music/sprites.
