A life of leisure has always been the dream of most men. To retire, never have to work again and stop caring about the everyday worries.
There has always been hermits, only just now there's a way for them to connect with each other and live that way in concrete jungles.

Of course, that dream is actually a nightmare, having no goals or work actually turns into a succession of depression and so on.
So it's not the NEET life that people crave, but the idea of having unlimited time to dedicate to nothing but your hobbies.

I wouldn't call myself a hikikomori, but I can say that being a NEET is good. Of course, it's not good if you have absolutely no ambition or purpose in life, but that's actually worse if you're going to school or working, because you will sacrifice a huge amount of time getting knowledge or money you're not sure why you need.

That being said, I kinda look forward to going back to studying and being among people again.
