The Huns and Mongols invaded at different times. The Huns invaded during the final death throes of the Western Roman Empire whilst the Mongols invaded some time around 800 years afterwards. Incidentally, the Eastern Roman Empire followed two centuries after the Mongol invasions.

They could be referring to the Xiongnu with a name their audience will recognize (and fits the tune), though historians are no longer convinced that the Huns were their descendants. The Rouran Khaganate was the confederation threatening China at the time and Rouran kind of fits the tune. Media just doesn't like making obscure historical references. Partly because they don't want to be considered pretentious and partly because they've got 90 minutes to tell a story and they don't want to be explaining stuff.
