/jp/, my theory suggests that everyone on this board can do a spot-on "what is a man" monologue. Confirm/deny?

Soma, you nit.

Also, "Forces of chaos, grant me power!"

Really, it's the in-battle lines that most people forget. Especially Maria's one, since most of us are so absurdly good that we can beat the starting battle in SotN with our eyes closed. Really, the force of chaos should throw in some variety, the same old Dracula transformation gets old. Unfortunately, our /jp/ brand force of chaos just likes being a dick.

True, if you do lose all your health, Maria pops in, says "Richter! Grant him your strength!", and you get a starman powerup for the rest of the fight (I call 'em as I see 'em). Beating Dracula without that happening actually takes a bit of effort.

...I just noticed that young Maria would fit right in Gensokyo. Frilly dress, absurd power, hair accessory, it's all there.

>> No.2773659

>>2773640

Maybe I didn't get the full experience because I got a game-breaker on my first run (Crissaegrim blade), but I don't think it's quite in the ranks of best games ever.

It was still very good, though. I just didn't like all the running back and forth and the need to explore BOTH castles almost fully to get the best end.

Shield Rod + Alucard Shield is more broken than the Crissaegrim.

And SoTN is generally much too easy. It's only fun with self imposed challenges, eg. low level or speedrunning.

>Shield Rod + Alucard Shield is more broken than the Crissaegrim.

No it isn't.

You can still be attacked with the Alucard Shield.
You never have to be touched again with the Crissaegrim.
Crissaegrim's got a better reach, too.
The only thing Alucard Shield+Rod has over it is damage rate, which isn't even true at max stats.

>And SoTN is generally much too easy. It's only fun with self imposed challenges, eg. low level or speedrunning.

I suppose that's true. I was playing it more like an action game than a Metroid-esque adventure.
