The old MG version is pretty bad, though. They replaced several music tracks with ONE of their own the game files, so even fan patches couldn't restore all the music. They replaced the original sound effects with awful sounding crap, the cicada sounds in particular were replaced with an extremely grating 2 second loop that sounded fake as hell. And the translation was riddled with typos and felt machine translated at times.

I still recommend the new version, assuming there is a way to restore the original sprite without fucking up the others. But don't give them any money. The translation is still really poor and there are tons of typos.

Buy the original if you can and pirate this shit, unless you know Japanese.

Don't know about the music, I don't remember and havent heard anything about it. Seriously each episode following Italianon and his Erikantrice theory he fights against truth and the English language has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the shitty grammar the theories only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of truth, all to make magic unmagical, to make common sense seem inert.

You'll never get a slow-paced or one-to-one adaption of any visual novel (save the ones like Steins;Gate that still work well). The written medium is vastly different from screenplay. It just wouldn't work. Even if you cut each chapter down to one cour, it'd still be way too much.
You aren't hearing internal dialogue, you don't have drawn out scenes, and you're not going to have every SoL scene adapted just for a little extra characterization. It wastes money and the viewer's time. Just read the visual novel if you're expecting that.
