You'll just have to connect to other players. Or get Hamachi.

>> No.2695156

You aren't supposed to do anything with the actual physical router. You log into the interface through its IP, open port 7500 (the method differs depending on brand, but it's usually easy to figure out once you're monkeying around in there). Check to see if you did it right in mbcaster (op 8), if you got an OK, then you can now host.

>> No.2695186

>>2695156
I don't even know the IP of the router, and even if I did, I don't have any login/PW.

I've sent an email to the administration people, so I'll see what they say.

You get your normal IP. www.google.com "what is my IP"

BAD = you haven't forwarded ports. Go to portforward.com and use common sense. You don't need to forward ports to connect to people, only to host.

>> No.2695332

>>2695186
Follow step 7.

Go to start > run > type in "cmd" > hit OK > type in ipconfig/all > look for the IP where it says "Default Gateway"

That's most likely your router's IP, and the log-in info is probably on default too. There should be websites that list the default username/pw (it's probably something like "admin/admin/password/etc.")

Find out your router model and let this site guide you: http://portforward.com/

How do you do that overhead charge punch on the ground? Was fucking me up, is it unblockable or just needs to be blocked high?

>> No.2699211

Yeah, I know HOW to do it, I'm just saying for some reason when I input 2A 2B 2C on netplay games 90% of the times it comes out as 2A 2C. Maybe I'm just hitting it too fast or something for the delay crap to handle.

Anyways, thanks for letting me learn to abuse the charges into specials. The overhead charge is just 5B, never messed with that before. I'll have to mess around with that more. And hopefully figure out why the 2B never goes off for me.

You don't know Nanaya's good pressure strings. You should be ending those blockstrings with a 5/2A and then quickly stepping forward with 2A to keep the pressure up and prevent them from escaping. Nanaya's j.B is a strong jump-in, so use that more against characters who have no decent anti-air. I wasn't teching against you almost at all, but Nanaya's 2C is one of the best meaties that you could have caught me with a few times into some real damage. IADs are also good pressure, and when you're standing over them while they're down, you can fake a jump-in and use 22 to fast fall into a low hit or a throw. His j.B also crosses up on those air backdashes over a blocker's head. Or backdash to fake the crossup and 22. Etc etc.

I enjoy my fighting games to reward improvisation and diversity, not 20 hit combos that take 40-50% that are constantly pressured until they connect. That's another thing, I only have my keyboard and I find it impossible to input certain commands at will (or even at all), I can't do any 623 or 421 but maybe 20-30% of the time so there's no point in planning them into a combo, and they always go off when I don't want them to. I can't do that instant air dash either.

There seems to be so much in this game I don't get, hitboxes that collide when things are nowhere near each other, character directions that don't turn to face enemies, and thusly fuck up input commands, and the players that take advantage of all these things in order to win more.

I don't intend on learning how to abuse game mechanics in order to get better, so I think I should probably stop trying to play meltan.

No, I just find it hard to find any enjoyment in a game where two people just fly around zigzagging and bouncing while poking out trying to get the other to make a mistake by a frame or two, then get to sit back and watch someone juggle them around for 5-10 seconds for half their life, then repeat. It's too mechanical.

A game shouldn't just focus on trying to get the other person to fuck up in order to punish it. But that's a whole problem inherent with a game system that has a lot of quirks and focuses the main source of damage on huge combo strings, while supers are nearly unused unless comboed into (and losing a high portion of damage)

Guess I'm just a simpler person who enjoys games that focus more on specials and supers than combos. Probably because I'm unable to hit exact frames and timing regardless of the time I spend practicing, which is probably because I just can't care that much about a fighting game.

Nice way to look like a retard and have no idea what you're talking about. I've never played SF4. I've never even played SF3 or really any of the SF series since the SNES ones.

I also don't mash buttons in nearly any fighter I try to learn to play. I read command lists, learn generic combos, watch videos and attempt to recreate it to the best of my ability. Then I try my own things and see if I can have fun with it.

I'm not a gamer who plays any fighting games at all hardcore though, and will never be proficient enough to hit any sort of timing or frames with any reliability, nor do I care that I can't since I just play them casually. What I do find enjoyable as a fighting game is one I can pick up, spend a while learning basics, and have fun playing people of all tiers. Games that allow players a few tiers above you to have a 99% win rate (in under 15 seconds apiece) are not that.

And therein lies the reason I like games that favor/reward special/super usage over combos, a well timed or unexpected super can cause just as much damage in 2 seconds as that stupid 15 second air juggle-ground bounce-second air juggle-air-throw-ex cancel stupidity. Which, while a better player will probably not be hit by often, still gives a casual player a shot at a win once in a while even with the huge skill difference.

I still enjoy playing meltan, but apparently only against people who are as bad as I am or versus the CPU. I don't even beat the CPU every time, I suppose expecting any sort of mercy from most of the netplay people was stupid. I guess if I host anymore from now on I'll just ask to restrict it to other shit tiers only.

Who are you playing as? While some characters do have combos where the links a rather small (Arcuied, Akiha), those are simply higher damage variations. At the basic levels of play, you can get by with just their basic bread and butter. 2A 2B/C 5B/C j.BC dj.BC air throw is quite simple, requiring maybe 15m in practice mode, and works with most of the characters in the game with some small modifications.

If you can not find some amount of enjoyment from getting your ass handed to you, then I'm sorry to say that fighting games probably aren't for you. If the game is designed as a test of skill, which most fighters are, it is supposed to have the better player winning by a wider margin more often. If you are regularly getting close or are beating people "a few tiers above you", it's not a very good fighting game. What you're asking for is the equivalent of a chance at beating a chess grand master (some hyperbole, I know).

See, while this is very basic for this game and easy for most everyone I've played in netplay (even the low tiers), it's not even that easy for me. At best, I can string 4-5 together reliably. Most of the times I can't even time the 2A 2B 2C 5C launcher right, the few times I do 50% of the time I don't get the jB jC off in time to keep the combo going. And 90% of the time after that I NEVER can continue with a second jB JC so I don't even try and just airthrow. But I've been playing about a month and I can't even get off a full BnB more often than like 5% of the time.

An example is while I was trying to learn Warc (who's overpowered and helps compensate for my lack of skill), the normal BnB is 2A 2B 2C 5C jB jB jC jB jB jC airthrow, while the best I'm able to do regularly is 2A 2B 2C jB jC jB jC airthrow. That's still leagues better than my hours of failing at Shiki or Nanaya or Ciel or Sion though. At least I can abuse her strong normals to make up for my lack of combos, too.

I'm not asking for something that outrageous, but I guess you could have interpreted it like that. Even with special and super-based fighters, a better player will win 90-95% of the time. For example, in Soul Calibur, a good player will nearly always rip me up, but there's always that slight chance that if I dodge right and super I might send them flying off the map and win. Knowing that I even have a slight chance makes it worth fighting people better than you, where in a game that doesn't have that leeway a better player will just always win period, and the only reason to attempt to play them is to learn and get better.

While in itself that's a good reason, especially for tournament level games, some people who just will never improve to that level just don't enjoy doing that over and over. I guess it's just a personal preference to enjoy fighters that do allow for a slight element of luck alongside skill, just a different definition of "fun" is all. I still find fighters "fun", just not the same as a lot of other people here I guess.

I've played SFII (and most of the SNES variations), they were pretty fun. When playing someone a lot better, I almost always lose, as expected, but still can manage to pull out wins like 10% with my best characters regardless of how much better they are. Knowing I have that shot is reason enough to keep retrying despite a large majority of the time getting my ass kicked, that's all.

I'll probably stop bitching and netplay some more sometimes, but either expect to be a punching bag only or just play other low-shit tiers so I can enjoy at least having a chance is all. At least I can beat the CPU most of the time, and I still like playing the tag-team mode and stuff. It's still a fun game when I'm not being annihilated 50 rounds in a row.

Not the guy you were talking to, but Super Turbo has a lot bigger disparity between skilled and unskilled players than most fighting games including the earlier SF2 games.
