I did try xrandr, but every time I try to add the mode to my monitor, I get a BadMatch error. I read this was a common issue for nVidia cards, which I do have one of. I tried all the fixes on Arch Wiki's nVidia troubleshooting page (overriding EDID, allowing non EDID modes) and none worked, and I need to use the proprietary drivers for game performance. Is there any way to get around this, or am I stuck with modifying EDIDs?

xrandr is good for a one-time resolution, but if you want it always available, you should add it to xorg.conf instead. Use the CLI program "cvt" to generate a modeline then add it to the monitor section of xorg.conf.

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
Modeline "2560x1440_73.00_rb" 296.00 2560 2608 2640 2720 1440 1443 1448 1491 +HSync -Vsync
Modeline "2048x1152_75.00" 251.50 2048 2200 2416 2784 1152 1155 1160 1205 -HSync +Vsync
Modeline "1920x1080_75.00" 220.75 1920 2056 2264 2608 1080 1083 1088 1130 -HSync +Vsync
Modeline "1600x900_75.00" 151.25 1600 1704 1872 2144 900 903 908 942 -HSync +Vsync
Modeline "1440x810_75.00" 122.00 1440 1528 1680 1920 810 813 818 848 -HSync +Vsync
Modeline "1280x720_75.00" 95.75 1280 1360 1488 1696 720 723 728 755 -HSync +Vsync
EndSection

I have a 1080 that I bought two years ago. I'd much rather my next GPU to be from AMD, honestly.

Thanks for the information, both of you. I will keep looking into this. In the meantime, I think I may have found a custom EDID that properly does 1080i on my CRT, and since that's the more pressing of the two I may just stick with that. I'd like to use 120Hz on my LCD, but since it's mostly a productivity monitor at this point I don't mind lower refresh rates.
By the way, regarding loading custom EDIDs, is there a way to do that for two different displays? I was able to change my xorg.conf to load a custom EDID, but when I tried it for two monitors, I think XServer just wouldn't start.
