Pretty sure all doujin stuff from conventions like comiket falls under fair use in japan, which applies to Miku and most characters unless the company explicitly tries to shut it down (which would damage their image with the community and lose free advertising if it's just them being unreasonably controlling of their content).

The ones who only know about Miku and meme songs aren't even vocaloid secondary though, they are not really part of the fanbase in the same way I'm not a part of the fanbase of most musicians I know just the name and a few hit songs.

A secondary is probably one who only cares about the characters themselves and songs are just a way of writing fanfiction of characters (which is why they probably enjoy mostly producers who write overarching stories through many songs). Frequently they'll say their favorite isn't even Miku (because again, it's the characters personality/role that matters, not the songs, plus hipster points and showing "deeper" knowledge). They'll also be more likely to argue that Vocaloid is dying because songs are not about the vocaloids themselves (or UTAUs) anymore, even if the same amount of songs were being made.

Though like the other anon said, you either listen to the music or not, it's not like you can directly apply the logic of source material vs adaptation when people just listen to another subset of songs.

Yes, I'm more optimistic now for the release in 3 months. β1 was worse than β0 since it removed all of Miku's charm in my opinion for minor sound quality gains, but this one improved that. Though there is a lot of catching up to do since even in that song the V2 parts of the main vocals are way more consistent.

Because of the pitch curve drawing, it's likely that NT will be more "mitchie m"-like as a baseline though, since it's so easy to overdo the intonation. I think the problem is more that he used too many voicebanks, so it's hard to evaluate it in the first place.

In theory it can handle any character, you just can write whatever. But it was trained on tons of fanfics and other stuff it could read on the internet so it is going to recognize some franchises and connect the dots. For example it once added Rin into my story without me ever mentioning her.
Also keep in mind it's not magic and there is so learning curve to use it properly. That previous example is really not great, it was one of the first things I've wrote with it. Pic related is something I made much later and it really can get amazing if you use it properly. Either way RTFM from /vg/ and it does wonders.

Any MMD users here? I don't know where to find any anons who know about MMD. I made a custom model in Koikatsu that I wanted to use in MMD and I managed to export to PMX "without" errors (there're some duplicate names), but when it comes to linking each part of the model to motions or poses I'm completely lost. They are already releasing two more Miku voicebanks in november, probably Soft and Solid. At that point they'll probably announce a second character (likely Rin/Len or Meiko which are rumored to be already being recorded) before Miku English/Chinese. And they will have to keep working on features for the engine and Miku voicebank improvements since I doubt it will be fully complete by late november.
