Does anyone know how the Japanese responded to Phase 1? We know that r07 likes to read online discussions, and that he even reacted to criticisms by making changes throughout Umineko. R07 said he had all of Ciconia planned out this time, so I wonder if he can hold himself back from making changes in response. Or maybe that's why Phase 2 is taking so long, since everything was planned out it's taking him longer to alter the story.

Overall mediocre, but it served it its purpose. Honestly, as much as I get erect from the Umineko soundtrack, they were sometimes "too good" and became a distraction while reading. The music and the text were fighting to be at the forefront. Music that serves it's purpose is good enough for me.

I see this as just a natural progression of WTC. Higurashi obviously had none as it was the start, then Umineko brought in some, and now Ciconia has even more. I don't know if it will lead to a culmination though, or if it's just a meta nod to readers. I think people dissociated Bern, Lambda, and Featherine from Higurashi too much. Though I can see hating it if you hate Ciconia with a passion, having all the titles coupled together, tarnishing their name.

My main issues can be isolated to prose and story. Was a slog to read through and made me feel nothing but annoyance except during sporadic moments.

I really hope all the references will have some purpose and we'll get some sort of meta storyline that'll link all WTC games together but I doubt it. Higanbana and RGD also had a lot of references to WTC and it didn't go anywhere, I think R07 just like to self reference his other works in a ham-fisted way.
Also I don't think I would have liked Umineko and even Higurashi as much as I do without their soundtracks, they really enhanced the experience and kinda complement the overall mediocre writing, I don't see how they could detract you from the vn.
Also Ciconia's ost being mostly made of free to use tracks while is bullshit. and the original tracks are not really better, even higurashi's question arc had a more memorable soundtrack.

June 30th 1908 was the Tunguska event, which most think was a meteorite impact though there are alternate theories about it which I want to read up on. I am utterly overwhelmed by the scope of what there is to theorize about in Ciconia. I realize that Umineko and even Higurashi were somewhat easier because they were less spread out, if that makes sense. I know this is only Phase 1, but the only thing I'm convinced of is that Miyao is either the devil or the anti christ since he was standing at the top of a 666 meter tower at the beginning, and that he's programmed to end the world. This isn't much. I thought I was ahead of the curve for being able to more or less solve Umineko by the end of EP3 but it turns out that I'm lacking in general culture and biblical references.


I tried looking at documentaries about Storks yesterday, and one funny thing I noticed is that their cries is kinda similar to gunfire. I suppose this was intentional on Ryukishi's part, and I genuinely love the idea

I think God is some sort of AI that manages the matrix. Toujirou is trying to fuck up the world and cause wars to force "God" to intervene and take the opponent's seat.

I love the technology in Ciconia, but it would be insane if it turned out that it functions so perfectly and flawlessly because everyone is literally connected to each other in a matrix world.

Yeah, there is lot of plothole on Umineko, but I think that it was on purpose to create many theories with those on the story. The storytelling is ambiguous.
I mean, with Last Note of the Golden Witch, we can create a theory were Erika is Rudolf illegitimate's daughter because of Piece's hair color, etc.

For Ciconia, we had only Phase 1. We don't know with certainty where Ryukishi07 wants to take us with the Gauntlet Knights.
