Hi all, I hope you're all doing great with your studies!

I'd like to ask about other people's experiences with how many words they'd add to Anki and learn a day. Currently I add about 20 - 30 each day from visual novels, manga, light novels, etc. At the end of this month I will have basically 24/7 free time for the rest of the year and plan to dive even deeper into how much I do a day. Do any of you think there's a limit to how much I cap myself to?

I'd also be interested to hear personal stories about the amounts you each do a day!

I did experimental bouts of ~200,~100,and~50 new cards a day. Currently settled on ~40 new ~1000 reviews with total anki time averaging 1.5 hours. I could do more but that would increase the chances not completing a day which tends to wreck at least 3 days of reviews after. I'm reviewing J, C and K plus a few other things so it's not all nip. I gave everything a good shot to form my own opinion and have used the following apps.
Duolingo (free/dropped):

The dirty bird “Duolingo” has stuck around the longest because it succeeds in keeping you hooked. The issue with it is you cannot see why people hate it until you have gotten to a certain point in the language with other resources, people that mainly use just this may never see this.

For Romance languages it is noticeably better than Asian languages but still only good as a supplement or review as it lacks explanations.
Busuu (paid/dropped):

I’m sad to see Busuu go as it is one of the good apps, the A1 lessons are fantastic but the reviewing needs work. It has an SRS system but it's just not great.

Near the end of the A1 level it goes into this loop of Vocab, Practice then a Conversation and it's super boring. However I understand this because once you know basic grammar you need vocab.. And a lot of it.

Busuu would be great if it kept integrating the basic grammar you learnt with new vocab thus creating N+1 sentences but it just doesn't and is a missed opportunity for a great app.

the pic can help but being forced to make my own visualization of the scene/example sentence in my mind produces a better more memorable mental image i recall when i see the word again, so imo the pic sometimes hinders you but it depends on the word

i had roughly the same retention on anime cards and vocab cards. ~85% in the short term and 75%-80% for mature cards. the context from anime never made a difference. i don't know if that's because i wasn't overly enthusiastic about what i was watching at the time, or if adding 10-20 words a day makes it hard to remember the context for most words no matter how compelling the input was.
