It is the year 2060, Anonymous. Aging has been medically reversed for quite some time; though humankind is nowhere near real immortality, you can stay youthful as long as you get regular treatment. Of course, this did all kinds of whack things to the economy; you can't really retire permanently anymore either for obvious reasons. So most people take a few years or a decade off and then go back to work, perhaps to do something totally different.

Amazingly, Anonymous, you managed to get a job. And you did well enough that now you're going to take a few years off. You plan to spend your time mostly with a rather popular invention: a full sensory virtual world which you can plug into to experience basically anything. You still need to get out each day to eat and so forth, but otherwise it's fully immersive.

Touhou outlasted its 10-year heyday at the opening of the 21st century and amazingly is still around. ZUN has branched out quite a bit in terms of genres, but the core idea is still there. And recently, a massive collaboration of doujin groups released a program for the virtual world: a simulated Gensokyo.

You install the program. It gives you the option to go and modify whatever you want before starting up the world--and to play as any character you want, including your own new one, if you want.

I spend days trying to create a character I want to play, constantly working, tweaking, and then scrapping to start the creation process all over again. After two months of doing nothing but this, I am ready to enter the game world. However, right before I enter, a patch awaits me, which adds a few dozen more character creation options. I go back and spend a couple more weeks remaking my character. Finally I'm in and then... I realize I really can't dodge danmaku worth a shit and fail horribly.

Anyway, to return to the OP's topic, here is what I would do.

I would find a multiplayer room of the Gensokyo simulation, since some clever Anonymous would manage to jerry-rig an internet connection between the simulations so that you could interact with other users, much like Melty Blood over Hamachi.

I would then play as Yukari, with some mischievous /jp/'ers as Ran and Chen.
We would then proceed to liven up the place with hysterical Suppatenko gags and the ever-popular Aristocrats! jokes.

I would also gap people around places and generally use the gaps in a Portals-style fashion to jump through and keep falling forever, launching myself high into the air or sending unlucky bastards flying, or stick people between two and watch them run in and out over and over until they got sick and barfed.

But, you put so much work into it, I'll give a serious reply.

I'd rather not use the immersion system, if possible I'd like to use the internet, like I am now, in whatever form it is in the future.
It'd be nice to have things stay exactly the way they are now, but I know that will never happen.
