Sayo having golden hair would make everything convoluted. That depiction in the EP7 manga is a trick to hide the identity of the culprit, that's not how they really look. It's just silly to think they have golden hair and nobody realizes they are related to Beatrice and not just some random orphan. If they dyed her hair for her entire life, that's even more stupid and convoluted.

I would agree with you if the VN or the manga hinted at it, as stupid as it is, but it does the opposite. It clearly implies that Lion's world is a fake. He's not supposed to be androgynous, blonde, perfect, etc. And they certainly don't grow golden roses in the garden. It's an idealized world where everything is nice. Hell, George is exactly the same even though his change from school shooter incel to gentleman happened because of Shannon, who doesn't really exist here.

Yes. The thing is that Umineko turned out to be not a mystery with a heart but a heart surrounded by mystery. I don't know how Ryukishi found the story: either starting from the mystery and finding the heart of the other way around. But I really love this story structure and honestly haven't ever seen it developed do throughly. I'm talking about the idea of this hidden character (Yasuda) weaving stories in order to be understood. It's very inspiring. I also identify with Yasu as a character and I really don't think someone could have written Yasu without being Yasu in a sense. The character is just too real in their misery and escapism.

Lion is a magic character that represents a "miracle" version of Yasu, that's why his/her world is literally full of magic bullshit, golden roses and stuff like that. Hell, Will can interact with the family despite being a non-existent meta man.

The "real" Lion never existed in any fragment, but he would definitely be a relatively normal dude. Magic Lion looks androgynous as fuck because it's more comfortable for Yasu to imagine. Lion's entire philosophy about gender and shit is something that s/he came up with at some point in his/her life, but that life was conjured up by Yasu's imagination anyway.

Lion can be whatever gender you want, that's the whole point of the character. They are a fantasy character just like the others.

George also has no reason to stop being a fedora tier cunt because he explicitly said that his love for Shannon and jealousy of Battler's loli waifu is what made him change into the man he's now. Dating Shannon also changed him (he says this several times in conversations with Shannon and Evatrice), which can't happen in this world. The George in Lion's world is an impossibility, because it's based on the real George. Sayo has no idea of the impact she made on him, so he's the same George here despite her absence.

Lion's golden hair, voice, androgynous appearance, perfect life and opinions about gender are also an idealization imagined by Yasu, not a real depiction of what "Lion" would've been like without the accident. In reality he would've been a normal male.

The world itself is clearly full of actual magic, golden roses, a meta dude walking around, Shannon and Kanon coexisting with Lion, people remembering the seating order from a different world, etc. And is made up of pieces of different fragments. It's not a proper parallel world, but rather a fantasy. A wishful dream.

The way the world ends according to Bernkastel makes no sense because there's nobody in the underground room to tell Kyrie about the bomb or hand her a 1 billion yen card, which is necessary to make her decide to complete the massacre.

The reason Bern can make Lion's world end like that is because she previously showed them the truth of the catbox (EP7 Tea Party). By exposing that, and by the very nature of the catbox itself, it's guaranteed that Lion's world cannot end well. Not because it makes sense for things to go wrong there, but because his world is an illusion, equivalent to one of Beato's depictions of magic. The world is forced to end in tragedy regardless of logic because the island exploded IRL. Even this fantasy world can't escape the catbox.

And the reason Lion is allowed to escape with Will by simply "not acknowledging that he's been shot" is because his world is a fantasy. Fantasy doesn't have to be restricted by reality, mystery rules, red truth, or the beginning and end of the catbox. That's why Lion can survive and reject Berns bullshit.

Bern is also lying when she says that out of all the fragments Lion only exists in one and is killed by Kyrie. If this were a proper world, ignoring the obvious magic bullshit and inconsistencies, there would be endless alternate versions of it where events happen differently. How can she claim that Lion only exists in this one fragment? How come there are no worlds where Lion exists and nothing happens? It's because Lion isn't a thing. Or at least this idealized Lion, in this fantasy world. Everything about him and his world is fantasy. Not only did it not happen IRL, but in fact this Lion isn't even how the real person would've turned out. He's an idealization by Yasu. He's fantasy by his very nature, and so is his world. That's why Bernkastel can so easily deny his existence in the entire sea of fragments. He's just not a thing. The EP7 world is an illusion. Lion is no different from the seven stakes. But because of that, he doesn't have to listen Bern or be constrained by reality or the truth.

There are logically "endless" amounts of Lions as there are anyone else, the problem is that Lion-fragments are so bafflingly uncommon that even a Voyager isn't going to take the time to find them. 1 in 2.5 million is a very tiresome ratio and boredom will overtake them before they investigate even a second one.
And Bern only needed the one to stir in more tragedy and suffering.

People mostly complain about anime that imitates this style to the point of absurdity, with eyes as big as their head, making the characters look deformed in motion. But the art in Kanon is very cute and fitting for a dating sim. You are supposed to be looking at the cute girl, so it makes sense that she takes up the whole screen and her eyes are big and expressive.

This doesn't work in the console versions of Umineko, where relegating the text to a small textbox and giving too much importance to the (soulless) sprites hurts the immersion, because that's not the point of the original sound novel. The text was more important than the visuals, which were only there to support the text, show the character's emotions (which used to be subtle in the original) and let you know who is speaking. The original sound novel made the wall of text disappear for a second every time a character sprite appeared or moved, catching your attention. The screen got brighter for that second too. The text itself was displayed in very deliberate paragraphs. This is all totally lost with the console version. All the text is cramped into that textbox and split in an ugly way. And I've seen several players completely miss a suble change in a character's expression because they were looking at the text at the bottom. This never happened in the original because the whole wall of text would disappear and drive your attention towards the sprites.

Just finished Higurashi and wow... shit was good. The pacing at times was slow, but its been my favorite visual novel I've gone through so far (granted out of a few, tsukihime and danganronpa). Pic related is probably my favorite moment. The build up in the question arcs are so well done, it made the answer arcs feel somewhat weaker (not including Meakashi, was my fav chapter. Tsumihoroboshi was great too.) cus a lot of the reveals felt like dialog dumps. That sounds worse than what I actually mean, because I still enjoyed the second half. Ryu sprinkled in a lot of history/science in so it made it more interesting. But it surprises me that most people like the answer arcs more than the question arcs. Guess my main issue is chap 7 and 8, but overall the series was amazing.

Is Higanbana or Umineko after Higurashi? Plan on going through both but want to experience in the right order.

The stories are unrelated, but they reference the previous one's themes quite a bit. Not just expies. Higanbana references Umineko a lot and can be understood a lot better if you read it beforehand. RGD deals with some themes explored in Higanbana. And Ciconia references fucking everything, especially RGD, turning the "lessons" on their head and exploring different ideas. Again, I don't mean expies, I mean shit like the dice metaphor from Higurashi (which is heavy in the early episodes of Umineko and comes back in Ciconia). Or the whole "living beyond your death" thing, which is brought back in Ciconia and in the ???? tea party of EP8 (Ange basically succeeded where Takano failed and made her onee-chan into a "god" through her books).
