So the bar isn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting. It's definitely a bit wobbly, but not enough for it to be a problem. I played a few 16s and it seems to be holding up well. I'm too out of practice to try 17s and 18s at the moment. The pad itself needs some modification to make the sensitivity perfect, but overall I'm thrilled with this.

A lot. Almost embarrassing how much Trump spent on it. $625 after shipping and the paypal conversion fee.
Here's a few songs I've played on it so far.

16
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZTBRFNxX-4

17 (ended up failing out at the end because I was too winded for the drills. Used to be able to AAA this, but three months of quarantine and doing absolutely nothing but sit on my ass has destroyed my stamina)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwQHy0Dj4_g

15 (Expert chart, also pic related was the score I got)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvqA0H3AQ4E

It still needs a bit of modification to completely get rid of misfires, but so far it's working out great.

My scores aren't very good but I'm having a good time, I thought about buying your polish pad but at the time there were no real good reviews and everything else was either shit, twice the price, or perpetually "6 months away".

Took almost exactly a month from the day of ordering. Penny mod + some tape in the corners of each panel makes everything real nice and sensitive while minimizing misfires. I had a Cobalt Flux back in the day and this Polish pad is absolutely on par with it, if not outright better. I really like the design of the sensors. The build is very very simple and easily fixable/replaceable if anything ever goes wrong.

wut

Not sure it matters either way, I don't really even look above the midpoint in the screen. If the arrow is hit exactly on the beat of the song, it gets scored fantastic. I'm probably just not autistic enough for this thread.

>> No.23816149

There are separate audio and video components of latency mitigation. It sounds like you may have done the audio part correctly, but your visual offset is requiring that you hit the arrows way before they actually reach the targets.

not him but a good way of figuring out your timing is to use some sync test chart and play it entirely by ear, then adjust audio offset.

Then mute the audio and play the same sync test chart by eye and step when you see the arrows hit the targets. Then adjust visual offset.

it depends on what you want to do. if you want to emulate playing on a controller, then just use the default controls on LR2 (shift + zsxdcfv). if you want to get the most out of KB, use the symmetrical o2jam layout (index, middle, and ring on both hands for 1-3 and 5-7; thumb on space for 4; and either one or both pinkies for scratch)
i use both shift keys for scratch and "zxc [space] ,./" for 1-7 respectively

No-life PS2 guy here again. I'll be getting my PS2 back again soon, and I managed to find the CS ISOs, so now I'm wondering about something I remember from many years ago. In those days, I used swap magic to play the actual discs, imported, but around that same time, I had an HDD with, I believe it was HDDLoader.
Anyway, I remember trying to load a few IIDX isos on there and there were problems with desync. The games were basically unplayable. I know IIDX is niche, but maybe there's a workaround, or a method that works? I don't want to pay $200+ for an Empress disc.
Failing that, is there a PS2 emulator config that works?

>>23885361
I appreciate it. My layout is basically this. I use a similar layout for DJM*X, but I prefer the numpad if possible. Looks like I can't do that in LR2 though.

>> No.23887088

>>23886882
OPL is the modern equivalent to HDDLoader and is still updated. All Bemani games should work with compatibility modes 1 and 2 enabled.
Failing that, the swap trick is old and gross, you should be able to play burned copies patched for ESR.

>> No.23887136

>>23887088
>compatibility modes 1 and 2 enabled.
Thanks anon, that's useful info.
Just out of curiosity, what about USB or FTP? I remember this being possible, and it would be beneficial if I wanted to use a Slim PS2 in the future.

>> No.23887253

>>23887136
The network option is SMB, not FTP. And I don't use either because they're slower than a disc, I haven't heard if they work for any Bemani games. If I had to use a slim I would burn discs.

Also, the most obscure question of all: has anyone tried running IIDX isos on a non-launch PS3 through the software emulation? Modded with PS3HEN obviously. And I think there are adapters for the controller, although maybe I could get a used PS2 for the price of one of those adapters. I dunno, I'm just throwing around ideas. I feel like playing with the controller in my lap isn't going to work for long. Maybe an autistic question, but should my arms be angled flat/parallel with the controller, or angled down? I might have to elevate my CRT while I'm at it somehow. Would prefer to be sitting because it'll be long play sessions. What do you guys do?

>> No.23943479

>>23942738
Yes, you want to play standing if at all possible. Your arms should be just slightly angled down - about 5-15 degrees - and you should let them hover a bit above the keys when idle so that they're almost parallel.
There was that translated japari/safari tumblr page explaining stuff like gachi, Random, and hand positions, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
>Would prefer to be sitting because it'll be long play sessions
Don't worry about that; even if you're out of shape like me it'll only take a week or two before you can handle several hour sessions just fine.

You'd need to account for the latency of your input as well. It'd be 9ms + the controller input latency + buffering/processing time. You can use a high speed camera to try to measure the whole stack if you want.

>> No.23962336

>>23962189
240 FPS video would be accurate down to increments of ~4ms, or 0.25 offset in IIDX, which is probably good enough. You would need to take several measurements and get the upper/lower bounds on the latency, as well as an average. If your monitor is 60 FPS, for example, you should expect a corresponding variance to your latency measurements, e.g. the time from button press to monitor response could be between 10 and 13 240 FPS frames over multiple measurements, maybe averaging out to 11 or 12, meaning your offset should be 46~50ms.
