I'm an embossing label maker otaku, mainly Dymo Labelers

This is the Dymo Tapewriter 1550, which fits tape sizes of 3/8'' and 1/4'' I also have the 1570, which is essentially identical but it fits tape sizes of 1/2'' and 3/8''

Probably my favorite labeler. These were made of a sturdy metal construction and built to last. It's not like the mass produced plastic ones, this one is designed for heavy use in an office environment. It's vastly superior to get one of these used off ebay instead of buying a brand new made-in-china dymo.

You need to stock up on old tape rolls from ebay, as they stopped making them in the US and the chinese ones are of an inferior quality. Old tape rolls are made of thicker plastic and actually stick much better than new tape. You can usually buy a whole lot for cheap.

The heads (letter punching circle) are interchangable to different fonts and sizes, also to make the words come out vertical or horizontal. I have about 6 of them. I was recently thinking of importing Hiragana and Katakana heads to put in so I can make Japanese labels.

I got involved with label makers after working on old computers and electronics and delighting in the vintage feel of embossed labels computer nerds of long gone would use for their custom switchboards and electronic closures.
I have no one else to discuss labels with and don't have much else to still label in my house
Thanks for reading

I don't think I am an otaku anymore. I've absorbed too much net culture and now I'm full. I still love the aesthetics of niche otaku media but my only entertainment is obscure short stories. Maybe I need to create something and get all of these 2000s ideas out of my head and on paper, and then I'll be able to engage with otaku culture again.

In old pulp and science fiction magazines like Weird Tales, on Wikisource and on Twitter. There are amateur writers on Twitter who are pretty good but don't advertise their work anywhere else.

This is all in English, of course. I wish I knew enough Japanese to read Japanese Internet writers with strange ideas. If you know where to find English translations of such writers, please respond.

A fake crossboarding otaku.
I read mangoes on crawling aggregators, my favorite being the ones by Minoru Furuya. I attempted to learn japanese a few years ago. I tried to get into touhou at around the same time but I couldn't even 1cc anything unless I was on easy so I uninstalled everything.

I am a japanese martial arts otaku too though but no one cares on this board. I have kobudo weapons and I have a signed copy of "This Is Karate" by Mas. Oyama. I train karate every singe day--down to the stretches and fingertip pushups. My favorite karate manga is Grappler Baki and Shamo.

in all fairness I'm not so much 'otaku' in terms of participating in subculture, more like I enjoy collecting good, valuable properties to enjoy? Every few months I'll find something to learn all about and consume and file away happily into 'shows I enjoyed'. I'm on /jp/ so obviously that includes Touhou

other than that, random bits of trivia, folklore, history, language/grammar tidbits from an amateur perspective. The same with plenty of other countries, just maybe more frequent regarding Japan.
