I think it's maybe up to interpretation whether it's really a bad end or not, in my opinion it totally is, Tooya has no will of his own and just a reflection of Sayo's wishes and Sayo dies alone in the tower, but I love Tooya's route in Shinigami to Shoujo.
In general I think it depends on the game. Sometimes happy endings can feel unearned or out of place.

I love bad ends, but I probably wouldn't play a game where you have no happy ends at all. It's fine if there is only one good end with tons of bad ends, though (e.g. Hana Awase). My interest/expectation is generally lowered if a game only offers happy ever afters.

In regards to Period, it's one of the worse (not worse than 7scarlet, though) otoges from Aksys. I love the colours and the setting, but that onii-san route freaked me out. It's one of those types where you get 5 free story tickets a day and login/pay for extra ones. The gacha is for unlocking side stories and getting a high score in a mini-game that I'm still not sure has any relevance to the main game. Depends on the quality and type of story.

A normal romance, in my opinion, only needs about 5-6 hours to introduce the setting, characters, and set up the flags. The individual routes should be the "meat" of the game, and therefore, much longer.

However it can be too short if it's a game where the romance is supposed to share the top spot with whatever the scenario hook is (mystery, fantasy epic, etc). In that case it needs more time to sell both equally.

Recently got into A3 and have finished all the main story. So far my favourite boys by far are Masumi and Misumi. No one really caught my eye in the Autumn and winter troupe, though I like all the boys a good amount (its kind of ironic I felt more drawn to the highschoolers than the adults).

Izumi is so fun! She's a rather different experience for me cause unlike most other games I play I don't self insert with her in any capacity and I appreciate how she doesn't blend into the background compared to the boys unlike other games.

So I finished it. My main reason for getting this was the comedic tone and it definitely delivered on that. I liked the characters just fine, though as a love interest I prefer Miki cause I don't like Saito's archetype. The downside is something that already came up before in the thread, the bad anatomy, so while it has novelty points for being an 18+ otome the sex scenes weren't actually appealing to me.

As a sidenote I didn't realise until later that you can turn Ema's face off and I had forgotten you can customise her name and I find that kind of funny considering that she didn't even feel like a bland self-insert MC at all.
