That's the thing about saying "where were you guys when I made this thread about it?" Other fans were probably around at the time, and just missed said thread.

Then again, interest in the games has obviously increased with more availability of the translated scenes. Though mine came mainly from watching some of the videos on nico, getting interested in the characters, getting into the music and dramas, and finally being able to play with the PSP versions.

At least it's nice to know that my language skill has gotten good enough during that time that I barely even have to use a dictionary while playing.

I don't know when exactly I got into iDOLM@STER but I remember that I was introduced to it via stage6 and the oldest iDOLM@STER video I downloaded from there is from late November 2007.

Anyway, I'm happy that there are more fans now because I feel the more the merrier.

It's slightly more bearable if you imagine the vast number of shitty fans the Japanese have to put up with in order to get the few that make awesome shit.

I got into Idolmaster from playing Go My Way on Taiko DS.

I got interested in im@s in 2006. It was in all the arcades, and it intrigued me. Never really got into it enough to play more than a couple times though; Chihaya scared me away.

From what I call tell Idolmaster is a STG about little Japanese girls. They battle evil with the power of their songs.

You train with your idol so you can raise her main stats: power, intelligence, and charisma. Also, you are able to emotionally connect with your idol; if you communicate with her well then you can increase your intimacy levels with her. This allows you to unlock more powerful and destructive songs. The game ends when your idol's power level reaches maximum and you are able to destroy all evil which opposes you. You become the true master of idols.

I personally love STGs so I really can't wait to play Idolmaster. I'm going to equip my idol with twin lasers and spread missiles.

I think my case is a bit unorthodox. While I'd like to be able to say I'm 'into' Im@s, I can't without lying through my teeth. I've never played any of the games, so how could I be into it? For me, while I enjoy it as a whole, what I'm actually enjoying is the fanbase and what they make of it. While I'd like to play the games, it would be more for the sake of getting closer to the fanbase than for the games' sakes, and understanding more of what the fans talk about.

I've been into Im@s for a while (early '07, saw it in nico), I bought a 360 just to play it and I quietly promoted it amongst friends and the internet (posted a lot about it in forums and imageboards in such, but discreetly just to rouse interest so I can have someone to talk to about the game, in during WHAT HAVE I DONE). Personally, I don't care if it gets popular or not though.

Been a fan for a couple years now. I first saw videos of it being released on the 360. The cel-shading was awesome, really the best at the time, and the movements were fluid. I was genuinely impressed with it as a game(nevermind the little girl aspects). Started listening to just the music, then as time went on the characters got more interesting as videos and translations became available.
What really floored me was the choreography. Call me a fag, but I get hypnotized by some of the dance routines and always wondered who was behind the moves.
As far as the newfags you seem to notice, I've always thought it was that way - just more of them. Before then, it really was just pedophiles so the fanbase I'm familiar with calmed down to were it really is about the game.

Grrr, I blame daylight saving hours for this. I live in England, so the clocks went forwards an hour on Monday, but I didn't notice my phone clock hadn't, but still set the alarm according to my PSP clock, which had been set properly. Hence my alarm never went off, and I was late.
Part of me wanted to reset to the save after that, but I managed to pull off a perfect communication in the afternoon, so I guess it's all right in the end, but now she wants to meet me this time tomorrow. To plauy in Office mode with the BACKED UP version, you need to first patch your BOOT.BIN or whatever it was using the EXE that was posted here some time ago then grab a binary editor (I use Hex Editor Neo but any freeware can do the job), open the already patched BIN, go to offset 0016C0BA and change the 51 there to 40. Then save the file, put in ISO, etc.

Note that entering office mode may still crash randomly the game. Just get to it and take the left (auto) button. If it crashes then restart your PSP, otherwise you should see it noticing you that it's activating wireless. Then enjoy putting 961 idols in DELICIOUS outfits.

I like IM@S as much as the next guy who bought the game, not because it's popular but because I took and interest in it, I just don't feel like going through the trouble of spending the extra monies for the game when I can get most of what makes up the game for free.
