playing visual novel on nintendo switch and i have a new technique for making cards faster. paid app called yomiwa which has a camera for recognizing kanji in a sentence. they have an option to copy all the text within the picture which i can quickly paste into the evernote app.

no problems with the app recognizing all the words in a sentence ever since i made the background behind the text dark in the settings

Got a culture-related question. I've been reading into The Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Soldiers, and I've noticed the eight brothers all have three names, like Inukawa Sosuke Yoshito. In my experience, Japanese only use two names, the family and given name. So how/why do these guys have a third name and what's its relevance?

I used to be making big gains in all aspects of life mental and physical when I suddenly had extreme motivation and ambitions fueled by anger and sadness from being alone for so long. After a year of this I had so much gains I magically got friends and a gf and then completely forgot about my ambitions and lost motivation as anger and sadness turned to happiness and I became a pseudo-normie.

As long as you have the drive and aren't a lazy sack of shit isolation could work, but you'll probably burn out and off yourself if you go for too long. If I didn't somehow stumble upon happiness or calmed down and enjoyed my life browsing the web and playing games I'd say there would only be another year before my muscular big brain body was found hanging from a rope.

i know that flashcarding and learning japanese (or any other language) for normalfag pursuits like muh nihonjin gf and "tomodatis" is gay and bluepilled, but sometimes i wonder if i'm ever gonna feel the way i did with these previously mentioned masterpieces.
this is not even a japanese-learning related reflection. this is just pure r9ksy feels by a guy who used to love anime he watched a long time ago, and still does, but doesn't feel as excited about stuff he watches now.

if you've watched 20 to 50 anime, or just kinda generally like anime and odd japanese stuff but not for any particular reason, and have always had several side interests, i can see that being possible, but if you've gotten so deep into otaku culture that you've ended up twisting your mind around how only anime, manga, etc. can even be entertaining, and wrap it together with a schopenhauerian-platonist doomer view on how reality is imperfect and only worth existing for the sake of pure ideas present only in fiction, then it becomes impossible to ever escape otakuism.

However I have had dreams that left me seriously beaten down, one dream I had recently after finishing Demonbane (and it left a mark on me because I still remember it) was that I actually had a computer girl companion like アル but due to me messing up a computation and hooking into a machine wrong (it was some stupid shit about trying to calculate something using her) she broke/died and the dream ended with me holding her dead body in my arms.

>> No.22672254

Oh and I'm not trying to say I didn't know any Python before I did this but what I learned so far was really a loose mess which was only to address very specific things and whenever I did something I just glued and googled shit together haphazardly until it worked. I agree with Paul Skallas that American culture has been stuck for the past 15 years, but I think the same thing applies to anime. The only "new" thing is isekai, which is just a new setting for the same anime we've all seen 8 million times. It's like Clannad, Haruhi, & K-On stopped being an instance of the medium and became the medium. In 20 years, anime will have realized this and become completely different, or just be straight up emotional pornography.

There is no difference. This is from the first result of googling your question

Basically, in contemporary Japanese, intransitive入る= /hairu/. The /iru/ readings are essentially all survivals from an earlier stage in which入るwas just /iru/. (In fact, /hairu/ is basically /hau/ "crawl" + /iru/, which is why sometimes in older texts you see it written這入る).

So your best bet is to assume that入るis /hairu/ on its own and /ir-/ in compound words (入り口= /iriguchi/,入れ替わる= /irekawaru/), and learn the exceptions one by one. There are quite a few such exceptions in the dictionary, but you won't actually encounter one very often. Most of them have a fairly old-fashioned or literary feel and are pretty rare nowadays. The big exception to this is気に入る/ki ni iru/ but it seems you have that one down already.

(If it makes you feel any better, misreading the入るin expressions like神に入るas /hairu/ is relatively common even among native Japanese speakers, precisely because /iru/isan exceptional reading these days.)

So:どどっと入るis almost certainly /dodotto hairu/, because it's not a set phrase, and so there's no reason for入るto have anything other than its standard reading. Andどどっとis probably mimetic, yeah, don't know about onomatopoeic. Try looking upどっと-- it's basically a reduplicated form of that.
