I think part of that is because Idolbu fans still treasure RP as much as vtuber fans in general did in pre-Nijisanji times when nearly everyone tried to keep a clear distinction between the virtual and the real. The doxxing and other stuffs started as retaliation against the decisions of the suits, but went further and beyond that. Trolls have fully assimilated with the fanbase. All the doxxing, dislike bombing, comment spamming, have turned into rituals under the pretense of fighting against the suits, and it's now at the point where I believe they won't stop even if management somehow miraculously allow Tama-chan to return.

Management is at fault too here for failing to do the most basic of basic PR managements, instead choosing to keep quiet which doesn't help matter at all. It's solipsistic, but it's easy (for me) to not actually think of vtubers as real. Vtubers exist as living fiction to me, and I enjoy the stories they make. Every character in this "world" is someone interesting. Vtubers simply existing and interacting in their world with each other creates something enjoyable. For the past year whoever dictates .live's policies has been choking the fanbase of that enjoyment from interpersonal interaction. It's been slowly boiling my fucking brain for the past year about why they can't just collab together when they want to. It's the sort of undercurrent that can easily motivate negativity. And then they pull this whole shit. These fucking idiotic suits who make people have to worry for weeks about the VAs' well-being. I hate them so god damn much.
